Dos Aliados Hotel Residencial Porto
Rua Elisio De Melo, 27-2 - 4000-196 Porto
General information:The luxury Residencial dos Aliados residence enjoys a splendid location in the centre of Porto, on the Avenida dos Aliados, just 20 minutes by bus or car from the international airport and right next to the Sao Bento train and underground station. The residence offers comfortable guest rooms and welcoming public areas, together with the typical Portuguese hospitality. The residence occupies an impressive building and offers a refined and charming atmosphere along with attentive, personalised and highly professional service. A reservation service for restaurants, city tours and rent-a-car is also available. Whether for business or just leisure, the Residencial dos Aliados will be your best option in Porto.Location:Situated right in the heart of downtown Porto, it offers the convenience of having everything you might need within easy reach.Only 20 minutes away from the Airport, nearby Sao Bento railway station and subway station and less than 10 minutes away from Douro River.Area:Facing the big lodges of port wine to which it gave its name across the river Douro, Porto is Portugalýÿs second largest city and there is a certain feeling of rivalry towards Lisbon. But although its ancient roots have been preserved with pride, a modern and lively commerce makes it a thriving city and its traditional importance as an industrial center does not diminish the charm and character of its old quarters or even of the newer and busy avenues, shopping centers and quiet residential blocks. The Cathedral area deserves to be explored, with its various monuments, such as the Renaissance church of Santa Clara, and the densely populated quarter of Barredo, which appears not to have changed since medieval times. The riverside quarter of Ribeira is also delightful, with narrow streets, typical houses and picturesque life-style: it has been recently restored and now includes fashionable restaurants and bars. Equally lively and colourful is the market of Bolhýÿo, where you can buy almost anything, but more elegant shops can be seen nearby, especially the jewelleries and leather goods shops in the Baixa (down-town).Porto affords many other attractions, monuments and museums, as well as a cultural agenda which has been steadily improving. With a well-known gastronomy and hospitable population, it is also the starting point to explore the river Douro in an unforgettable journey upstream.Recreation:Majestic Cafe:One of the many attractions in the city of Porto within a few steps from Hotel Residencial dos Aliados. The Majestic Cafe is the most beautiful and one of the oldest cafes in the city, built in 1921. With a magnificent entrance of art-nouveau style it reflects Porto's golden age and prosperity. Located at one of the commercial and busiest streets of Porto, the heavy decoration with angels and cherubs cavort on the ceiling won't fail to impress. Guarany Restaurant:Founded in 1933 and located within Hotel Residencial Dos Aliados is a special local known as 'the musician's cafe', usually crowded with artists, musicians and politicians creating a unique atmosphere. It has always been a place where culture takes a stand with book readings and debates taking place within its walls. Breakfast is served every morning at the Hotel Residencial Dos Aliados. Rooms:All rooms are equipped with all the modern amenities to make your stay comfortable.

My room was basic but was functional. Only downside was it was next to the lift so was noisy at night with latecomers. I did request a room with a veiw but as I was a solo traveller this

Great location, great staff We stayed in this hotel for 4 days in June and found the hotel to be perfectly located (walking distance to most attractions, and close to the main underground station), with helpful staff at the 24 hour reception desk and good breakfast. Our only (small) complaint is that there was a fair bit of road noise, even with the windows and shutters closed. Still a great stay though.

An excellent hotel in an excellent location - thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Hotel is right beside new Metro line (station Aliados) and close to central bus routes. Our room was right on the front, so some traffic noise, but more than compensated for by view and superb location.
