We really enjoyed our one night in Porto. The hotel is conveniently located in the center of the city. The airport bus stops right in front of the hotel (just tell the driver the name of the hotel), and the central train station is very close as well. The room was very clean and pleasantly spacious. The breakfast was excellent with many choices available. We found Hotel Bolsa an affordable and pleasant place to stay in the heart of this beautiful city.

Wasn't sure what kind of welcome to expect as we comprised six blokes on a football trip to Euro 2004 and, in such circumstances, hotels have been known to mysteriously lose reservations. Not here, though, where we were treated like kings despite regularly rolling in, worse for wear, at 4am and not leaving our rooms until mid-afternoon. Comfortable bedrooms, courteous staff, prime location for the Ribeira bars and restaurants. Highly recommended.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Hotel da Bolsa. The staff were friendly and very obliging and didn't laugh at my attempts at speaking Portugese. The room was spotlessly clean and very quiet with a spectacular view of the cathedral. The location is excellent, being close to the river and its restaurants and bars and also to the station and shops. I was very pleasantly surprised by the price, very reasonable for this level of service and facilities. I wish I had stayed longer and if I ever make it back to Porto, I won't hesitate to book in again.

We spent 8 nights in this hotel during August 2002-it was one of the best value hotels we have stayed in! Housed in the old stock exchange building, it is perched on a hill in the centre of Porto overlooking the Douro, The hotel was a delight. Very friendly and accomodating staff-nothing was too much trouble. We decided to treat ourselves and booked one of the superior rooms at the top of the hotel. We got a mini suite! Bedroom, living room and 2 bathrooms with a superb view and all for under 100 euros per night! The rooms was so quiet, we had to set the alarm to get ourselves up in time for breakfast (which was very good). All in all, a delightful and very comfortable hotel with lots of character. We would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone

Stayed in the Bolsa recently for two nights (August 2006) and don't really understand the other glowing reports. Yes, it's cheap, 70euro for a double room but our room was extremely small. Clean but fairly charmless. Also, we were on the top floor and early morning were surrounded by birds, possibly seagulls?, who seemed to inhabit a derelict building across the road. This sounds romantic but wasn't really - for me it made what is probably a very clean hotel feel really dirty and unhealthy. That said, it's very well located and the staff are helpful & friendly. I could really only recommend it for someone on a budget - and would probably recommend the even cheaper, slightly more dilapidated but very charming Grand Hotel de Paris instead.

Great location, you can walk anywhere. The river Douro is nearby along with port tasting. The service at this hotel was excellent, with a very friendly staff. The room was very nice and we had a decent view. The surrounding area of the hotel was a little run down, but what a great town! Would definitely stay here again!

Very nice little hotel in a good location (about 15 minute walk to the river). The staff was helpful and the rooms were clean.

This is a nice little hotel, with one major flaw for the business guest: the Internet is both overpriced and very slow. The main good point is the location (near the heart of the old city --- major attractions are all a short walk away if you want to do sightseeing. The St. Francis church is just down the street with gorgeous Baroque art inside and the river is across the street from the church. There is a decent small family oriented pizza cafe around the corner and a small fruit/vegetable vendor as well. It is no more than a 8 minute walk from the metro stop. The front desk staff are also wonderful, and the rooms are reasonably clean and well kept. The bathroom is a bit better than average, thought the hot-water controls were a little sensitive for my taste. The complimentary breakfast is so so, but I think it hits the bar for Europe generally. The Internet however just plain sucks despite being overpriced. You will get better access and it may actually be faster to walk down to the river to look for an open access point and then walk back.

Hotel Bolsa has a great location right in the heart of Porto. The waterfront is a mere 5 minutes walk away and the rest of the city is easily accessible on foot. Parking is a problem in Porto so the cut price arrangement the hotel has with the nearby underground parking facility was very welcome. Rooms are modern and clean and some have great views. Breakfast was nothing special. Porto itself is a wonderful place - lots of character and tiny little alleyways that probably haven't changed in a hundred years!

My wife and I stayed at the Hotel de Bolsa for eight nights in July. The standard of accommodation was very good for the price. The rooms are a good size, are quite well appointed and are kept very clean. The hotel is in an excellent / quiet location being midway between the train station / shopping district and the many attractive riverside eateries and bars. I would suggest asking for an upper floor as there are good views to be enjoyed from many of the rooms. The staff were helpful and courteous at all times. I thoroughly recommend this hotel and hope to return one day.
