Stayed at Best Western Inca Hotel for 4 nights in June 2007, no problems with staff, room, or breakfast in the morning. Arrived at midnight reception man was very efficient. Room was average size clean with air conditioning and remote controlled TV and radi by bed. Bathroom was clean towels changed everyday. Breakfast had a good choice of hot and cold food, waiter was very efficient and pleasant. Whether it should be classed as a 4* given some of the others of this rate in Porto is debatable. It is of traditional type with lots of wooden panels which gives it an appearance of dark. It is located in a hilly area and about a 5 minute downhill walk to the centre. Metro from airport to Trinanda staton 4 zones for 1.80euro was easy and took around 25 minutes. The walk from the station is up hill. Went to Graham's Port Lodge with a free bus from the main Porto bridge, short but very informative and 3 sample drinks at the end everything free. If you want a day trip away from Porto take the regional train from San Bento about a 15 minute downhill walk from hotel and for 4 euros return go to Braga. Well worth a day out. Wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. Booked through there own web site which offered a better deal than other hotel type websites. Pity about the weather heavy showers on three of the four day stay take an umbrella in case.

Although very clean and functional, this was not a 4 star hotel. The staff were very helpful and spoke good English but the faciltiies at the hotel were extremely limited. We were in Porto for 4 days, during which time it poured with rain. The Inca is situated up a very steep hill and this combined with the weather made it far from ideal. Our main disappointment was to find that the hotel had no restaurant. It is obvious there has been one at some point but it is now just a breakfast room. The breakfast was good with the usual hot and cold selections, fully staffed and replenished quickly. The bar was not open during the daytime. The rooms were clean but somewhat dated. All in all, it was value for money but only for stays of a couple of nights or so.

We stayed at the Hotel Inca, Porto on 5th May 2007. The hotel is more like a 2-3 star than a 4. It's about 15-20 min walk from the centre and 5min from a metro station. The rooms are small and outdated but the breakfast is very good with nice choices. Rooms are cleaned every day and the staff is very friendly. It just doesn't feel like a 4 star hotel.

We went to Porto for a weekend and had a good time there. We decided to book Hotel Inca as it was a 4-star and seemed to be quite central. The standard is definitely one of a 3-star hotel. But having said this it is clean and staff are helpful enough, so no complaints of you know that you are not booking a 4-star (you're not paying that kind of money either). As for where it is, we are good walkers and it is quite a stroll/hike from the Cais de Ribeira, although not too far from Avenida dos Aliados. But I wouldn't definite it as "very central". We felt the place was good, but nothing to write home about. One more thing: If you like shellfish you have to go to Matosinihos (tube stop Mercado in blue line) for amazingly cheap "marisco"

We were transferred to the Hotel Inca due to problems at the Hotel Grande De Paris. Our room was comfortable, the bed exceptionally so, and very clean. The room had a minibar and satellite television. The in-room safe needed a key from reception which cost 1.5 euros a day. A 10 euro refundable deposit was also charged. The price of water in the minibar was extortionate, it was provided in small bottles and worked out at 10 euros a litre. A 1.5 litre bottle from a local supermarket cost 50 cents - a big difference. Coffee and tea making facilities were available on request. There was no charge but we were not given any milk. When we requested the tray at reception it was delivered to our room within a few minutes. The bathroom was functional and very clean. The deep bath had an overbath shower. There was ample hot water. A container of shower gel was on the wall but we didn't use it so can't comment on its quality. The hot buffet breakfasts were superb. They were served in a very pleasant room and there always seemed to be plenty of everything. It was unfortunate that an early morning flight meant we had to miss breakfast on our last day. Staff at reception were always pleasant and helpful. We asked for a recommendation of a good restaurant and were directed to one about ten minutes walk away. It was very good. The Trinidade metro station is within walking distance. It is on the yellow line that goes from the airport to the other side of the Douro where the port wine lodges are situated. A one, two or three day travel card is available from tourist information at the airport. It cost 11 euros for three days and could be used on the funicular, local buses (not tourist) and trams as well as the metro. The highlight of our stay in Porto was lunch at the Taylors port lodge restaurant. We had read excellent reviews before our holiday and it certainly lived up to expectations! We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel and would have no hesitation in recommending it to friends.

We enjoyed our stay in this pleasant hotel. Our room was clean and comfortable. We found all the staf extremely helpful. We used the room safe, it was simply a matter of obtaining a key from reception. The breakfasts were excellent. Porto is very hilly, especially if like us you live in Norfolk! It is true that many of the buildings in the port area are rather run down but somehow it adds to the charm of the place. The public transport systems are excellent and the metro is so clean and fast. All the Portugese people we talked with were vry friendly and helpful. Gaia was certainly worth a vist and we enjoyed sitting by the river in the sunshine. All in all we spent a very relaxing 5 days here. The new airport at Porto is very impressive.

Comfortable hotel more three star than four, but with a very pleasant and helpful staff. Excellent breakfasts. Rooms clean and pleasant rather than luxurious. Well located as long as you enjoy walking. Taxis cheap and plentiful, and public transport generally good. A small selection of reasonable restaurants nearby. Otherwise it means a trip back into the very centre, which if you've been out all day, can be tiring. Porto is a mish mash of a place with obvious signs of really bad planning having taken place. The riverside is extremely picturesque and full of charecter; there are lots of things to see but very few useful guide books. Overall we had a thoroughly enjoyable trip.

The Hotel Inca is a little gem of a find in a central part of Porto. We got our room through a last-minute deals website and were pleasantly surprised by the level of service and professionalism. The rooms were comfortable and spotless, if dated, and the buffet breakfast (included in the price) was more than ample. But it was the the friendliness and professionalism of the staff that we appreciated most. They really went out of their way to make our stay a comfortable and pleasurable one. Mrs. Armanda, the manager on the front desk, was especially helpful and a great resource of information on Port.
