Rho

Nes 5-23 - 1012 KC Amsterdam

The 3 plus star RHO HOTEL is located in the heart of the old city in a quiet street, a few steps from the historic DAM square, the central square of Amsterdam, with the Royal Palace and the New Church. The Central Station is about 5 min. walking distance, shopping and night life is, although its quiet location, all around the hotel. You find the best department stores, the unique MAGNA PLAZA shopping mall and the long pedestrian shopping street "Kalverstraat" at walking distance. Excursions by bus or by boat are leaving from around the corner. Around the hotel are the canals with their historical houses. The rooms are modern and comfortable. All rooms have private facilities en-suite (shower or bath and toilet), hair-dryer, TV (satellite, 15 channels: NBC, CNN, Euro-Sport etc.), direct dial telephone, safe (free of charge). The rooms have a fridge which can be filled with drinks from the vending machine down the lobby. Non smoking rooms are available on request.

I had reserved this at what seemed to be the going price for High Season. the place is clean and the staff courteous. breakfast included--good by dutch standards. they did not mention a climb of several steep stairs from the regular floor level...

The RHO has a great location. The plumbing makes loud noises all night with toilets running cutting on and off and the pipes clanging (quite annoying). The breakfast was ok. The place was basically worn out from the keys to the beds. Hasn't been updated since the 70's. If you are going to Amsterdam to partake in the local coffee shops I would stay away from the RHO. They have a total non smoking policy. In fact, they are quite judgmental about Marijuana Smokers. This was one of the worst experiences I have ever had in my life.

This location is in the central district of Amerstdam. Close to everything. Great staff. I was there over Thanksgiving (American Holiday) and was invited to one of the staffs house for Thanksgiving. Neat. Next time in Amerstdam will stay again. David

The Rho hotel is ideally situated in the middle of Amsterdam only 5 minutes from the main station and 2 minutes from a tram stop. The price is also very reasonable for the location. The downsides are some of the rooms are over looked by offices and it gets very noisy at night and into the early hours.

The hotel has excellent location but here most of the good part ends. Breakfast was repeatative, not much choice in menu.Rooms were small. Heaters were normally put off, hence time taken to heat up the room. Rooms had no view. Sometimes no running water in tap. Overall poor value for money except the location.

Last November was my first visit to Amsterdam and a friend from the UK suggested the RHO. Upon arrival you know you are entering an old building with its majestic ceilings, something you find only in a 5 star hotel in the states. The rooms are not bad...now remember this is not the Hilton. The room had a comfortable bed and lots of room for my very large suite case and a private bath with tub/shower. I must commend the house keeping staff in that the room was always clean. The location of the Rho is outstanding. Right at Dam Square, you can step out to China town, the museum district, the red light district, the clubs are only a few blocks away and the trolley is just on the other side of the square. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from and the world?s smallest pub next door is definitely the best deal in town. If location and value are your goal then this is definitely the place, I just made a reservation for a return visit next fall.

It's very well located in order to arrive to all interesting places of the city. It's clean, confortable and good breakfast. Rooms are not exactly the same of the photos but enough for a weekeend. I recomend you the hotel.
