A lovely location, but must be new owners since last review This is absolutely no place to stay with a family, unless you're trying to start one...

Good Hotel for the Budget with a great staff. I was pleased with this hotel for my stay in Amsterdam. Besides the lack of an elevator and the television was a little fuzzy on certain channels, everything else was acceptable. The staff made every effort to make our stay comfortable. The room was cleaned and the sheets changed every day. Breakfast was prepared each morning and delicious and the bar had reasonable prices that were cheaper than the other places around town. The view of the canal from our room was amazing. The area was close to the hot spot, but for enough away to be quiet at night. I will definately be staying here again next time I visit Amsterdam.

Not impressed. Location is Ok but no elevators! If you are going to Europe make sure that you have a backpack or a small suitcase. We had a hard time carrying our stuff around. Amsterdam is awesome!

A fine and economical stay A friend and I stayed four nights at the hotel. The staff and service were wonderful. Once we made it up the four-and-a-half flights of narrow stairs with our bags, the rooms were clean, adequate and quiet. The hotel is on a quiet street two minutes’ walk from Rembrandt’s beloved house, five minutes’ walk from the Rembrandt Plein and fifteen minutes from the Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh Museum and the Concertgebouw. The breakfasts are hearty and tasty, the rates reasonable. The only real criticism: the showers puddle and wet the entire bathroom floor. No dry feet without a deal of effort. The Rembrandtplein Hotel makes a good deal for travelers not expecting four-star treatment.

Did exactly what it says on the tin Basic hotel, well situated in an old converted canal house. Not suitable for the less mobile as stairs very narrow and steep. No lift and no fire escape. Staff very helpful. Great for use as a base but not if you are looking for luxury accomodation. Would use it again.

Lovely Location First impression when seeing the hotel from the other side of the canal was still the impression when we left. It's in such a lovely quite location within walking distance to all the main attractions.. it's just knowing where to go, which the hotel staff helped with directions. There are alot of stairs but that comes with the nature of the city so be prepared. The rooms did have a lot of mirrors but it did help with making the room feel a little bigger. The staff were friendly and helpful on all occasions. Lovely hotel, lovely location and lovely staff.

Acceptable Overall This hotel was pretty good, overall. The service you get for breakfast and room service depends on who’s working that day. Some staff were extremely helpful while other’s couldn’t care less. One day our room was barely cleaned while the next day it was cleaned very well. Stairs are a bit tricky as they wind and there is no lift. Breakfast is decent. The shower is not separated from the bathroom so when you shower, you soak the whole bathroom. We didn’t have a view of canal. Would recommend overall. Location is convenient. Traveler's tip Bring shampoo and conditioner. They supply soap for the sink.
