+ For a basement room in a former youth prison with no view and bars on the windows, it was surprisingly comfortable and cheery with bright yellow and green colors - the surprising shower and huge fluffy bed were the best parts. also, the cuisine offered by the hotel restaurant was wonderful. - Big black spiders on the wall - three of them. bound to happen in a basement room, though - not really the hotel's fault.

the staff were friendly & helpfull, the rooms were basic clean and comfy, great showers in middle of room, great concept but better quality would last longer! lovely old building with history, although it was an asylem. great views from top floor over canels, local area pleasent and tram was easy to use,buy a tram pass and jump on and off as much as you like that was good,we had a great experience while in dam and plan to go back next year.

The idea of creating a modern, unique design hotel in a former asylum house and prison is certainly interesting. But at Lloyd's, they seem to have kept a lot of the prison and forgotten a lot of the design. Rooms were so sparcely furnishied that they lacked a trash can or mini-bar in the bedrooms (a "second tier" or type C room runs about as much as your typical four-star "deluxe" room). The shower was behind a fold-out wall - a very cool idea, but due to construction "on the cheap", the drywall was unprotected and had begun to pucker from the water. Could be amazing, but needs someone with an eye for details.

+ Helpful and friendly staff, anxious to make our stay really pleasurable. bold and adventurous designing both in the re-modelling of the existing buiding and in its furnishings and supplementary services. - design fault in several of the bathrooms, with lack of privacy and failure to include shower screens.

+ The beds are amazing, possible the best i've know in a hotel - The reason food is available 24 hours a day is it's all ready prepared, i'd prefer fresh. ground floor rooms are very noisy due to being by the restaurant / reception.

I LIKED THE CLEANNESS OF THE ROOM. THE BED WAS VERY COMFORTABLE ALSO. i THOUGHT THE STAFF WERE RUDE WHEN WE WERE CHECKING IN AND NOT HELPFUL AT ALL. THE BAR WOULD NOT BE VERY INVITING THE DECOR LEFT A LOT TO BE DESIRED. THE LOCATION WAS OK ABOUT 3K FROM CENTRAL STATION BUT THE TRAMS ETC.. WERE EASY ENOUGH TO WORK OUT AND QUITE REGULAR.

+ Clean and modern hotel in a quiet area of amsterdam. good connections with tram. - We got there after 6 hour flight from greece to tell us that they were "overbooked" and they moved us for 1 night to the nh tropen hotel. this never happened to us before!very bad behaviour of the reception staff...
