    + Location - Small rooms

The Ibis was a great, convenient place to stay for two young women visiting Amsterdam. It was reasonable in price, clean, friendly, and located in a safe area of the city. The room had some quirks, but so do MOST European hotel chains. All part of the fun of venturing outside of the USA!

Step out of Centraal station and look up and around and you should see this hotel. There are trains to Centraal station from the airport, (but make sure you buy your ticket before you get on the train or you will pay dearly). Centraal station is a main hub for the tram system (Amsterdam's main mode of public transport)and taxis are readily available. This makes this hotel very convenient, but all the activity around the hotel also makes the lower rooms noisy during the day. Taxis were constantly lined up in front of the hotel to get into Centraal Station's pick up point. It is not, however, noisy at night. Like most hotels in Amsterdam this hotel does not have Air conditioning, (just thought you should know to pack a pair of shorts in your carry on so when your luggage doesn't follow you because of unforeseen flight changes you will be comfortable). We stayed on a lower floor which provided a view of the large bicycle parking structure which was between the hotel and the canal. I am sure that is why the room was cheaper than most. The room was small by American standards, but it was clean, and provided a safe to store our valuables. From what I read and heard before my trip this is something that is a must because Amsterdam is a city full of tourists, and therefore has many pickpockets. All in all I would stay at this hotel again because it was just an incredibly convenient location.

Right next to the Central Station. A great choice for people visiting Amsterdam by train. Not the best choice as far as location.

This is a very nice hotel with a decent bar/lunch area. The best part about this hotel is the location and the price for the location. It is right next to the Central train station, boat trips, bike rentals, and bus and tram ticket stops, and it is...

+ good location next to centraal station - expensice for what it is. £120 a night compared to £45-50 in the UK for an equivalent. I guess its just the going rate in amsterdam. Although room was small it was managable. Tea making facilites would have been

Compared to other hotels in the Ibis chain, this one might be considered more expensive, but consistent with the level of quality found at Ibis hotels throughout Europe. Great location in central Amsterdam is close to or easily accessible via the tram stop just outside of the hotel.

+ Close to Central station - the hotel is over priced for standard

+ Location close to central station - very basic amenity; not helpful for international travellers
