As arthistorians I and my wife enjoyed especially the location amongst three major museums. Service was impeccable, and when our airline failed to bring us home we easily extended our visit in Hotel Smit one more day.

The location suited me very well as I had only one night in Amsterdam and the hotel is within 30-45 minutes from the airport. From the hotel I could walk to the main tourist areas in the centre. The price was very reasonable (because of the inconvenience of the renovations?). Despite the renovation I had a very pleasant stay and would return again. Staff were very helpful.

The front staff was outstanding. Currently (oct.07) the hotel is under going a huge renovation but it didn't effect us much except the outside appearance. We had a street side room and it was EXTREMELY noisy due to night time activites in the area.

The problem was that there was still ongoing repairs and it was not mentioned on internet that it will disturb that much.

Unfortunately the hotel renovations were still being carried out - which meant no internet facilities for guests at reception and no breakfast facilities although these were indicated as being available as from February 2008. And workmen commenced at 07h45 in the morning, banging, listening to the radio and singing along! TV out of order in room and in spite of request to check it was out of order for the whole stay. However, broken light in bathroom fixed. Helpful staff. Good location. Clean room.

I had a pleasant stay at the Smit hotel. I would recommend it to everyone who is going to Amsterdam. The room was good and the included breakfast was excellent.

The hotel was under construction during our stay and the room that we stayed in had not yet been renovated. Construction sounds were quite loud. However, the hotel staff did everything within their ability to make our stay comfortable.

I spent three nights in Hotel Smit. It is sited very close to the principal museums of Amsterdam. The zone is very quiet and safe. The room was small but comfortable. I appreciated the free internet connection in the hall. The price was very honest. The only problem in this period is that restoring works of the facade is ongoing, and the window was shaded by scaffoldings.
