Hegra, a small friendly family hotel. A 17th century merchant house situated on one of the most beautiful canals. Details from this period are still to be found in the building. The herengracht (or Gentlemen's Canal) was originally dug in 1614 as a site for wealthy Amsterdammers to build their imposing houses in which they lived and conducted their business. More than two centuries later, the hotel Hegra was founded in one of these houses. Hotel Hegra is a non-smoking hotel and has 11 rooms. Luxury rooms with there own facilities, but also basic rooms. An ideal hotel for those who appreciate the value of nostalgic charm and personal service at affordable prices. The possibility to make a boat trip starting from the hotel along the canals down the Amstel into the country side with windmills and ship locks give you a feeling of the golden age period. Or visit the Amsterdam School architectural movement of the early 20th century by an hotel bicycle. The beauty of the city's canals is immediately beyond the front door of the hotel. + We were in room 11 on the top floor, the room was small but functional, no view... we were of the difficult stairs but still didn't expect them so steep. the breakfast was okay nothing fancy but enough to start the day. the location is great, you can go almost everywhere by walk. - Size of the room

+ The hotel hegra is a great place to stay. its location is superb and areas of the hotel have just finished remodeling. this hotel is small and cozy which make is the perfect place to stay. the room i had looked out onto the canal which is a must to have on a trip to amsterdam. free wifi is wonderful. free breakfast is included as well! another must do when in amsterdam is get on a bike and explore and the hotel hegra makes this so easy for you because they rent bikes from right in front of the hotel ......so you have your own parking spot and the bikes dont have a huge logo on them. excelent!!! - I cant say anything bad about the hotel.
