Hotel was nice overall, wireless internet was not working, but if it was it was a bit expensive to use. Location was not bad either, good access to the tram, or if you didn't mind walking to the sights it was about a 20min walk from there.

+ Good location, very friendly helpful staff.clean towels every day.good value. - Needs updating,a bit shabby.also had a mouse!(one of our party saw it-later found mouse poison trap under bed)a bit of a squeeze but with 6 of us in one room expected this.no mirror on room wall but managed with straighteners stretched from socket to inside wardrobe mirror.

Hotel Barbacan You pay extra to buy your train ticket from a real person at the airport - the automatic machines are easy to use (with instructions in English) - all take credit/debit cards and some take coins. Trams are a good way to get round Amsterdam. Watch out for the bicycles when crossing the road - they don't stop even for red lights and go at high speed.

    - Rooms are very small. top floors are very hot. windows open, but no screens = mosquitos. all told, not so great a place. breakfast is cheap, but not that great. a bit noisy with other guests opening and closing doors late at night. can't say i recommend this place, though it isn't awful either.

+ Staff informed us of local facilities. very basic, but at the price we paid, was expected. - Would not let us pay by credit card, although that was the understanding. we had not budgeted for this, so caused minor problems.

+ Nice staff - Didn't get given a key for the safe box or tv remote as previous customers didnt return them, no discount for not having safe box or remote. lucky no one stole our valuables.
