cheap and cheerful! The hotel was clean and reasonably priced. It was suitable for a weekend visit as it was close to a lot of the citys hotspots. The staff were very friendly on arrival. My only negatve point really is about the rooms. As much as the 'modern, minimalist look' looks great it wasn't comfortable and there was no comfy seats to be able to watch t.v.

+ I stayed when it was a youth hostel, so the improvements are great!! - Arena was my first stop in europe. thought the prices seemed fair. but after traveling for two weeks, realized the prices are not too great. most places include breakfast, even the inexpensive ones. can't beleive this hotel charges 13 euro for an average buffet!!!

Hostel Arena This hotel might as well be called a hostel that charges too much!! I "splurged" for the Deluxe room and there was nothing deluxe about it. I am used to travel in Europe: small rooms, few ammenities, but Hotel Arena is definitly a hostel not a hotel. The bed was terribly uncomfortable. You can feel the coils in the two twin mattresses that are pushed together to form a double bed. The staff was useless. The only positive of this hotel was that it is near two tram stations (7, 10, and 9, 14) so you can get to anywhere in the city quite easily.

Excellent place to stay This hotel was an excellent place to stay. It had all of the things that I was looking for at for my stay in Amsterdam, a bar, a night club, and a restaraunt. My room was wonderful, and cleaned everyday. It was a good walk from the city center however, and that is the only complaint that I have, which is not really a complaint.

+ There was one nice guy in the bar. - I found the staff quite rude in general, not very interested in providing information and abrupt in their manner. not a friendly or fun vive at all.

Quality Hotel for Students On A Budget! Buy a bus ticket from the local shops or hotel for a very low rate which allows you to access the metro & trams with up to 7people on one ticket, or many journeys across the capital!
