Breakfast is not worth the 7.50 e/pp it costs, there is a supermarket nearby where you can buy sandwiches etc. which is better and cheaper. Other than that, very satisfied with the hotel, great location near tramstop, museums and so on, but still very qui

Norman was a gracious host that made us feel at home rather than hotel guests. We were able to book all of our trips and tours through the hotel and the breakfast everyday was delicious. We would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay in a nice quiet area yet close enough to walk to all of the "fun" the city has to offer. The museums are less than a 5 minute walk from the hotel and there is a tram stop less than a minute from the hotel so you can catch a ride where ever you want to go! This is a hotel that we will be visiting again when in Amsterdam.

Hotel Heemskerk is a well-kept, clean and accommodating place to stay, with a wonderful host. If you get a taxi from the airport, be sure you make it clean that you want the hotel, or, like us, you will get taken to the village of Heemskerk miles away -

+ Very friendly staff. room had a balcony. bathroom was very decent with excellent shower. - Room was extremely simple. a bit too outdated and showed a lot of wear. for example, carpet had stains, floor tiles in bathroom were clean, but needed real scrubbing to be white again, furniture was very scuffed and bed comforter was very old and worn. a little more attention would go a very long way.

Wonderful hotel, especially if you like Art Nouveau/Art Deco fixtures and furnishings. Cosy, in a very Dutch way, carpet a bit threadbare but still utterly delightful. The hosts were extremely helpful, going the extra mile (printing internet-booked tickets for us) when required. This is a very personal sort of place, so not suitable for anyone expecting large, faceless international service. We stayed in two rooms (kids in one, us in the other) and they were both spacious and quirky in decoration. One minus - no toiletries (soap dispenser on wall), so don't forget your shampoo. Good filling breakfast (but not cheap), but obviously you can do better at a cafe ('Small Talk', right up the road has great apple pie and croissants!).Excellent location near museums and tram that connects everything. Would definitely go back.

Our stay at Hotel Heemskerk was excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful. A lovely cosy hotel. There was also a bus stop very close by where we could get a bus back to the airport, which was very convenient.

A very nice typical hotel in the area of the museums. A bit far away from the centraal station, but accessible easily with tramways. Restaurants and other accomodation (shops, ...) are also available in the area. The hotel is very small (9 rooms), all decorated differently. The rooms are clean, confortable and equiped with television and shower or bath. Breakfast is quite simple but very good. The director, Norman, is very friendly. He gave us maps and all information needed for a good visit of Amsterdam, advised us good restaurants and places to visit. He welcomes everybody who comes back to the hotel. We spent two wonderful nights in Heemskerk, and we really recommend it to everybody who search for a nice and cheap hotel in Amsterdam

+ Brilliant staff, very friendly to our small group of young adults, and complete acceptance of our "party people" lifestyle, but extremely helpful, pleasant, interesting and kind. room was very nice and was always cleaned to a high standard. also in a great location, not in the most touristy of areas but justa short walk away. - Slightly higher price range for what students could budget for.
