Heart Of Amsterdam

In a great location, great rooms, very clean and warm (important in winter!) only problem is showers and toilets on the ground floor are pretty much outside and very cold but everything else is good, would be nice if there was a bar or a bit more of a communal area. staff good with directions

This is a hostel, not a hotel, best be clear about that. 8 co-ed beds in rooms decorated after movie themes (I stayed in the 007 James Bond room). As far as hostels go this is the second best I've ever stayed in: excellent breakfast, cool rooms, very nice showers (one with each room), central location -- middle of the red light district, so if you don't want to walk past hookers or stay next to a live porno show, you may want to find somewhere else to stay--however it's ridiculously overpriced. You could get a cheap hotel room in London for these prices. However, once you forget about that, it's quite enjoyable. Only thing is, if you have a street facing room, it stays very noisy right up until about 3-4am, so be prepared to stay out late.

+ The heart of amsterdam is a perfect spot to enjoy all the luxuries amsterdam offers, a stones throw away from the prossies, within a minute of the cafes and 5 mins from the dam square, the only thing as would be expected in red light district is that is the small offchance u might be harassed or mugged - i was basically forced into handing over 5 euros to stop the 2 black geezers from mugging me - this was at 4 in morning with me pissed stoned and mushroomed up, so all in all a good experience.

+ Really nice people working at the desk - they like jazz music. nice breakfast considering the very limited facilities of the hotel. wireless internet. hotel is located right in the centre of the redlight district, so you have to be alert at times as the staff kindly explained to us. - Breakfast is served in the 40 sq m reception area that seats around <30 pers. some mornings we weren't able to sit down at all. wireless internet only reached to the second floor (we were at the fifth). quite a lot of noise and smells of "funny tobacco" from adjecent rooms.

TOO LOUD!!!!! AND FREEZING COLD!!!

+ An individual hostel with all the required facilities, friendly staff, positioned right in the heart of the red light district, we had the clockwork orange room - it was ace!!

+ The rooms are pretty original, like as in the film themes and stuff. the location is wonderful, right next to the red light district, which can mean an advantage to some people... and right as the name says it's located in the "heart of amsterdam". you can get a nice view of three prostitutes from your room if you get a window room, that's 32 and 15 the ones we stayed in. the cleanliness is pretty much good, standard. - There's much to say about this, to start off soft, the breakfast is a real pain in the ass since you really don't have a proper place like a dining room where you can eat your breakfast, you have to sit on the couches and low tables in the reception room and have your breakfast. the food was, nevertheless, pretty good. one thing which really put me off, and what will probably make me never visit the place again was that they never actually informed me that even before i'd arrived on the morning of the 13th they'd already charged me 480€ worth of the first night on account of nothing whatsoever. i mean, i actually did arrive, even better i arrived earlier than they'd asked me and they still charged me 480€ without notice and with no reason whatsoever they decided to return the money 10 days after we'd checked in. i find that totally ridiculous and would never set foot in that place again nor would i recommend such a place.

+ Smoke in all the rooms:) good room safes;) - Difficult receptionists however the cleaners, caretakers etc were all cool

Perfect location, very clean hostel. I would definitely recommend this hostel for anyone.
