That's when the rates are cheapest. I paid 79 euros plus applicable taxes for Sunday night in late Sept., 2006. I moved to the Hotel Ibis up the street on Monday because even though the rooms and services are very similar, the Ibis is only 99 euros a night while the Tulip Art jumps to 175 euros during the week. Apparently, the one star difference demands an extra 75 euro although I thought the Ibis was, essentially, just as nice.

Beautiful hotel Lovely hotel. The rooms were very modern and immaculately clean. Good service. Was further away from the city centre than we realised but the public transport was excellent, regular and the number 48 bus stops right outside the hotel at stop hempoint. Would recommend to anyone and would stay there again on a return trip to Amsterdam.

+ Staff were generally very helpful and courteous - The web site was confusing as i had thought i was booking the hotel in the centre of town only to find ourselves a long bus /cab ride from all the activity. surprise l;ocation was very disappointing and caused a lot of stress on our arrival at the train station.

Good service and helpful staff, very nice rooms clean and comfortable, best beds we found on our trip although they were singles set together rather than a double bed. 10 min bus ride to central station with tickets available from reception was very useful.

+ Excellent hotel, would definitely stay again - Being unexpectedly charged a 'city tax' on checking out, when we had been assured the hotel had been prepaid in full. customers should be advised of this when booking.

The Golden Tulip Amsterdam Art is a decent hotel that is unfortunately far from the city center. This made it very difficult to really enjoy my stay in Amsterdam. The only way getting to the city center was by a 15 minute bus ride. Taxis were not readily available outside the hotel. They needed to be called and that made a taxi ride extremely expensive, $15-18 every time I wanted to get into the city center. Although the bus line was close and reliable this made my stay not pleasant. Furthermore the staff at the hotel although nice they were hardly helpful. If a hotel main way of transportation to the center is a bus line you would think they would know more about the bus schedule. They had no idea and could not provide me with a bus schedule. I would think that a hotel that is rated 4 stars would be better than that. Another annoying thing was that when you returned to the hotel late at night you could not just walk in. You had to ring the bell and wait for someone to open the door. They would ask you the room number and name and only then would they open the door. This was specially annoying since it was really cold and waiting up to 5 minutes for someone to open the door was not what I expect in a 4 star hotel.

Great hotel Really impressed by this hotel - particularly recommend the xxl room! A little bit out of town but only a 5 minute bus ride. Staff all really friendly and dealt with our large group very efficiently. Definately will go back.
