Hotel The Golden Bear, Amsterdam's most popular place to stay for gays and lesbians, but also straight friendly, in the very centre of the city. This non-smoking hotel is located in two historical buildings backdating from 1737.In the street where the hotel is located and in the nearby Reguliersdwarsstraat there are several gay bars and clubs. The entertainment square, 'Leidseplein', is located around the corner and is surrounded by several entertainment venues like the city theatre 'Stadsschouwburg' and a casino. The central location of the hotel is perfect to easily reach the numerous interesting museums and nice shops but also gay bars and saunas are just a short stroll away from the hotel. There is also a tram stop around the corner, which enables you to reach all the sights even quicker, although Amsterdam is easy to explore on foot. Different room types are available at the hotel. Some of the rooms have a private bathroom and other rooms share a shower and toilet in the corridor. All rooms are equipped with a washing basin, a safe, WiFi Internet and a DVD-player. On top of that guests have a small fridge in the room. At the reception, where you can also purchase drinks, there is a world of information and the hotel's staff will be happy to give you all help and information needed and will make your stay a pleasant memory you will never forget.

+ I liked the friendly staff , the central location , the relaxing breakfast area , and your cat. - The room we stayed in could have a more warming colour on the walls but apart from that,everything was ok.

+ Good location to various activities. the atmosphere felt more like home than a hotel. was pleased with having my own shower and toilet. breakfast service was very tasty and filling! - Only thing was the steep and narrow stair way. i would be traveling in europe for ten days and had a large suitcase. getting it up and down the staircase was difficult! i was shocked to actually see them. i read the comments about the stair but when i saw them in reality i was surprised!!
