Having never before traveled to AMS, we had no idea what to expect. This Hotel provided great breakfasts! It was a great way to experience the local menu. The small narrow staircases were slightly difficult to get up with lots of heavy luggage, and the room/beds were smaller than expected. It felt more like we were staying with a family, but with our own little area that was very private. The service was excellent and the people were very friendly! I would definitely reccomend this place to families and students or young adults traveling with friends. Our last night in AMS, we treated ourselves to a more up-scale hotel. The plushness was nice, but didn't provide the same feeling of truly experiencing the city and its people. Overall, it was a great trip and would do it again in a heartbeat.

We recommend this hotel who would like to spend some days in the heart of Amsterdam, very close to the Dam Place, 20 minutes walking distance from the railway station in a friendly, polite and familiar atmosphere.

The Hotel des Arts is around the corner of a huge shopping mall and close to everything that you want to visit in Amsterdam. Specially when you rent a bike. We asked for a quiet room and got a very quiet one with nice furniture. The people who run the hotel are very friendly and very helpful -also the breakfast is ok. Of course Amsterdam is a very expensive city and the rate if the hotel is high. Nevertheless it´s a good value. If we come back to Amsterdam you would love to stay there again! Peter Harasim

+ Staff was very helpful with us trying to change reservations at the next hotel stop. - The room wasn´t near to anything like art, not even the kinds I dislike.
