ALWAYS have a printout of your reservations to prove you have one. They did not have us in their system. Our first room was dirty with a small window. There was many available rooms. After we insisited on moving, the room was fine.

A good hotel if you have a car or are in transit via Schiphol Airport. Don't stay here if you plan on going to Amsterdam Center.

only advantage is proximity to airport got smoking room rather than nonsmoking room (arrived early but not offered the option of waiting for a nonsmoking room) shuttle sometimes full, and had to wait 45 minutes from a ride from Schiphol airport small room

Be aware that there are two Baston Hotels in Hoofddorp, one more up market version of the Best Western Group close to the main motorway between Amsterdam to Den Haag. When arriving around mid-night there are no shuttle buses, and due to a taxi driver's error we arrived at the this hotel with a very unwelcome young man on reception demanding wether we had reservation, which of course we though we had but actually it was with the budget version of Bastion 20mins away at Hoofddorp. This required calling another taxi, so 15 Euro + 15 Euro just to get to the cheaper hotel. Because of this experience I doubt I will use Bastion again, but their little budget hotel was very pleasant, good breakfast, pleasant staff, plus as we informed them that we were arriving late they alocated a room directly off Reception - nice jesture.

if you're looking for somewhere close to schipol to sleep after arriving early in the morning, this isn't it. their shuttle service only runs from 6am until midnight, and it will cost you 25 euros in a cab to get to this hotel if you arrive between midni

A real good location for sightseeing. We stayed in April and cycled around the bulbfields, went for diner to Zandvoort. Also visited the AutoRai (Exhabition) in Amsterdam by using the free shuttle and train. Very helpful staff! We'll stay there more ofte

If You Are Desperate? Mediocre at best . . . and if you miss the last free shuttle from Schipol Airpoty, it is a 35 Euro taxi ride ($55). Watch out for the 5 Euro city tax they extract in cash upon check-in. Traveler's tip for business travelers Pay a little more and stay at one of the hotels closer to the airport.

The hotel is very good but for visiting the city could be an adventure or you need to spend a lot for taxis!
