Asterisk

Den Texstraat 16 - 1017 ZA Amsterdam

A friendly, non smoking, family hotel located in the city centre of Amsterdam, with the Rijks- & Van Goghmuseum nearby and the famous Amsterdam nightlife within walking distance. The hotel is located in a building built in 1892, but has been completely renovated and equipped with all modern conveniences, whilst retaining its friendly atmosphere. A shuttle bus from Schiphol Airport is charged at EUR 13.50 one way (2007). Although fully renovated and restored, and including a lift in the main building, the 19th-century building maintains much of its original character and has a friendly and comfortable atmosphere. This also means we can offer a unique range of accommodation, from more economical basic rooms right through to luxury en-suite. Children are welcome (we can provide cots and high-chairs). All our rooms are equipped with television, telephone and safe, and hairdryers and kettles are available from the reception. At reception there is an internet-terminal, which is available for our hotel guests. Please note that this hotel doesn't accept group bookings of 7 people or more. However, it is possible to request a group booking at this hotel via our group department(groups@easytobook.com). Please note: When payment is done by credit card the hotel will charge 4%!

+ Great location and great staff! - The annex's staircase was a bit brutal getting our bags up and down.

I recently stayed there while my "regular" hotel was being renovated and found the Asterisk a fine little ** place... small but functional room, some with wc/shower (shower and wc down the hall) and some with just a sink... but ya gets what ya pays for... and the price is right for a hotel with lift in a good neighborhood... convenient to the trams, the market, nightlife and museums... a good value for money.

+ Everyone that works there was so helpful and friendly. the hotel is on a lovely street that's close to everything, but far from the noise of the street. the breakfast is delicious too!

+ One or two small complaints were dealt with immediately and the staff were very nice and hospitable - Bath shower-room was not always cleaned. also sometimes there were no bath towels only hand towels

In this hotel everything will be charged, such as late check in.In hotel, there is no elevator, and the staircase is very steep and small.I think hotel quality is not match the price, but the quality in amsterdam is better. There is no bottle to cook the water.

+ The staff was informative and helpful. the room was tiny (in us standards), but clean and the beds comfortable. it was very close to the art museums, which was our main focus. - The building we stayed in did not have an elevator, and the steps were very steep. it took a little work to haul up my suitcase. i was traveling with my young adult daughter, so she carried the bag up for her fifty year old mother!

This was my first trip to Amsterdam so it's difficult to compare, however, for the pricing I would say it's a good place. The room is VERY small and noise travels in the hotel. I consider myself lucky to have had a top level room and quiet neighbors. All
