The hotel is quite far from the central station. It does not have a lift and the stairs above the first floor are narrow and hazardous, especially when carrying luggage. We were asked to pay for the entire stay even before we put our...

It's an ok hotel near Vondel Park. The tram is just around the corner. The breakfast is fine and the room was what you could expect. Small but clean and the beds were fine. What more can you expect ?

I found this place quaint and it was interesting to stay and experience this type of architecture. Do not stay here is you have a problem with stairs, they are extremely steep. I asked the not-so-friendly gal at the desk if they had a lift and she said, "It's only one floor!". So we made 2 trips dragging our 4 suitcase up to the 2nd floor (they don't help you). Thank heavens we weren't on the 3rd floor, because the stairs are like climbing a ladder! Room was narrow; too bad it wasn't on it's side because the ceiling must have been 18 feet high! Bathroom floor VERY dirty (ick).

+ The room was clean and spacious and the hotel staff were friendly. - There was a mix up with the payment of our room, our misunderstanding though, and payment had to be made at the time of check in. we were lucky that one member of our party had brought a suitable credit card to use otherwise we would have been stuck! i think that it should be made clearer that payment should be made on arrival.

Avoid this hotel if you can!! The word hotel should not be used to describe this abode - in fact I have stayed in better student hostels than this!! The family room that we were allocated was cramped, damp and very uninviting. The bathroom was smelly - I think it was the drains!! We spent as much time away from the room as possible - in fact I was dreading going back to the room after the first day because it was so bad. The staff were rude and very unhelpful. We spoke to other hotel clients and they all felt the same. Unfortunately it was Easter weekend and there were no vacancies at other hotels in the city - otherwise we would have checked out after one day. A truly awful hotel!!

    - Check-in from 2 pm is too late in my view.

If your looking for basic accomodation Apple Inn was fine for us, you get what you pay for. The room was adequately clean and comfortable although very cold on arrival, this was soon sorted as we turned the rad right up. The room was secure with a card key but no safe. Breakfast was the typical continental selection of cheeses and hams, breads and cereals. The hotel is on the Tram line (No. 2) which takes you to central station thru Leidseplein and Dam at E1.60 per fare giving you 2 journeys in the hour on any tram or E7.00 for a 24 hr ticket with unlimited use. All in all, great place for a short break.

+ Really good breakfast facilities, pleasant and polite staff always accomodating and helpful. shower in the room was really good with on tap hot water! - Stairs to the top floor are a bit of a nightmare especially if your carrying a heavy case. best be careful if you come back from a night on the town as you may end up in a&e if you dont watch your step!
