The location of the hotel is good (well if you don't experience too much otherwise it is a bit tricky to get there from the main city...) It is a bit scummy and advertises this fact... we asked for a double bed and got two singles with metal frames (that could not be comfurtably put together) the staff were really pushed, felt a lot of sympathy for them though, they worked really hard but just not enough on hand for the volume of people they had to deal with (and an awkward door system where they had to press a button to let you in but when they were trying to serve 20 customers at the same time you could get stuck outside for awhile) breakfast was basic but included so that was nice and there are some nice things around the local..

i am a totally neat freak and cringed at thought of staying in a hostel but the hans brinker was amazing! clean, tidy, and all you need for your stay in amsterdam. 5 minutes from everything and the club down stairs was awesome too.... i will be back to the hans brinker...

the toilettes were dirty, the brekfast was boring, but the room was clean, the place is not far from interesting places, there was no leder to go up to the upper bed :), there's a good store in the next corner.

Hotel was very basic but accomodated all our needs for the weekends. Perfect for people who are not too fussy about comfort and size. Ideal location to pubs/ bars/ clubs/ shops etc. Not advisable for a romantic weekend!!!!

+ the tap water - Had to move the bed away from the windows and across the room to avoid the street noise which seemed fairly constant. The room is long enough to get far enough away though. It is in the red light district so very crowded and busy outside

Anybody under the age of 23 who is up for a weekend party would love this place. Everyone else should stay very far away! This is a hostel not a hotel, with several beds in a room. We were lucky however as ours had two single 'beds' and an en-suite bathroom. The rooms are minimilistic and small. There is alot of noise at night. The prison style wardrobes (re: lockers), beds (re: cots) and announcements intercom did not detract from the beauty of Amsterdam thank goodness. There is a late night bar and breakfast facilities, so again would suit youngsters.
