Nice if you are not too picky Nice small hotel, close to everything. Our room was too small, but canal view was unbeatable - you really feel 24 hours that you are in Amsterdam. If you do not ask for it, sheets are changed every 4 days. Personal is very helpful. Breakfast was really enjoyable - not only you make your eggs etc, but you feel really at home with the pets: cat and a big bird coming from outside (not sure what it was, something like crane??) looking for a piece of cheese.

+ The room we had looked out onto the canal, we found this most relaxing and enjoyable being able to see all the different typs of boats going by.the hotel is in a very quite area ideal for those seeking an relaxing stay.all the staff were very helpful and informative as we found with all local people in amsterdam.we would use the hotel again but only if we could have a room with aview of the canal. - The only negative with the hotel is that the standard rooms are very small and the cupboard space in all the rooms is poor.

+ Really nice hotel, i've stayed in a few holes on various visits to amsterdam and this is not one of them. if you are lucky enough to get a room with a canal view it's wonderful. though if you smoke you will have to be respectful and open the windows wide so if i were you i'd take some kind of insect repellent so that you don't get bitten like i did. staff are very friendly and helpful. - One very small thing, there are no hooks to hang your towel or clothes on while you take a shower which was awkward.

Excellent Location The location of the hotel on the Amstel river was excellent. It was close to all the major attractions in a simply lovely spot. The owner, Will, was friendly, helpful and welcoming. Our room was very small and dated but the bathroom was a decent size with a good shower. It was a great value. The standard room did not have a view so spring for a canel room. Traveler's tip on dining The breakfast at the hotel is wonderful, served in a charming setting. The Indonesian food is not to be missed- there is an excellent one on Utrechtstraat. The Dutch pancakes we had at a nearby restaurant were also wonderful

wonderfully located small hotel we were close enough to all the sights and places to eat. a market nearby and many brown cafes for a beer and some sate. an easy walk to central station and just as easy to the museums. the hotel in on the amstel river with canals on either side. quite charming.

wonderfully located small hotel this hotel was a nice find in the center of amsterdam. while the rooms were small they were comfortable and airy and always cleaned up by the time we came back from our excursions. the hotel staff was friendly and always helpful with suggestions about the city. it was well worth getting breakfast every morning...it left us full and ready to attack the day. making my own omelet was an added treat and the coffee was fabulous. all in all a great place to be. + We had a problem which to start whith they were good at resolving, also the staff were friendly and the breakfast was lovely. - Our room had not been cleaned when we arrived, this was then sorted. however, our bed broke from just sitting on it as the furniture was old and we were told that it would be fixed. we went back to the room and it broke again. we had to sleep on a broken bed. they offered us a free night to stay in the future which we don't want to take up as we don't want to stay there again. we have not been offered any other compensation and they take full payment at the beginning of the stay.

Horrible I know Europe standards are not like America’s but this hotel is certainly not recommended. We arrived to the hotel one hour before check-in time. The "concierge" made us walk half a block with our luggage to drop it off somewhere in a bookstore with no documentation of it. All of the employees smoke while working which makes your stay really unpleasant. There was a dirty cat around...no comments about it! The room was the smallest I have ever been. Could not have any of the luggage fully opened in the room. The bathroom was barely cleaned by staff on a daily basis. They tell U the breakfast is included but that is true only for the first morning.

Disappointed For those wanting to visit the Red Light District on tour, there is a free walking tour daily at 11am and 1pm, 3hrs walk, which we unfortunately missed as not advertised and only discovered last minute! Ask at Tourist Information - 'VVV' near Central Station. Recommend iamsterdam card if sight-seeing.
