We loved the Hotel Mori d'Oriente because it was in a quiet - uncrowded part of Venice. It was a 20-30 minute walk to St. Mark's Square. There were a number of very good restaurants right around the corner from the hotel. We had a very spacious room overlooking the canal. The bath had an extremely low ceiling - but you could still shower sitting down. There is NO wireless high speed anything in Venice - so don't count on getting any work done while you're there - but that's half the fun of going - isn't it?

The hotel is located in a quiet area, close to any type water transportation, far enough away from St Mark's and the Rialto to let one enjoy the flavor of Venice. A few minutes by water puts one at St Mark's and the many shops. A grand place to stay while in Venice.

Great hotel, great value A great, albeit slightly quirky hotel away from the center in quiet Canareggio, but still only 15 min fascinating stroll from S. Marco, etc; five minutes to S. Marcuola vaporetto stop. Rooms are located along a warren of hallways -- it’s an old building, so layouts seem to vary wildly; my room was well appointed and spotless, with an elegant marble bath. Helpful multi-lingual desk staff; nice American-style bar off lobby; wi-fi in public areas (fee) but not in rooms; lovely breakfast with fruit, pastries, meat, cheese, good strong Italian coffee, etc included in room price. Neighborhood is great -- off the beaten track and residential; lots of restaurants within five minutes walk (great pizza at Al Forno in the Jewish Ghetto). Room price was very reasonable for Venice. Would strongly recommend.
