First time staying near the embassies. Nice hotel on a small hill with nice view. Very quiet area, but there isn't anything (shops, restaurants, etc) in walking distance. Attached restaurant very spacious, quick service, excellent food (and large portions), so not being in walking distance of things wasn't a problem.

The showers were very small and ones with shower doors were hard to get in and out of the small entrance. Some of the shower heads need to be cleaned or replaced. The double beds are really 2 twins together which results in a hump in the middle of the bed, which can be uncomfortable. The staff went out of their way to help us with our luggage and letting us use their computer to access the internet when needed. Some of the rooms were noisy. Overall the stay was very nice. The staff were very nice ad always helpful with restaurants and directions.

Location is as described, it takes about 15 min. to reach the train station (downhill) and another 45min to go to rome termini (central station, ticket only 1,-EUR/person) by train. You can also take the bus (every 30 min on weekdays, ask hotel staff for timetable on weekends!). If you don´t mind traveling for 1h, the location isn´t bad. The rooms are quite clean but definitely need renovation (plaster is flaking and only holded by the wallpaper). Bathroom is extremly small, the shower curtain will allways stick on your skin. Bed & mattress is ok, air condition works well. Staff is realy friendly & helpfull. They picked us up at train station free of charge. Restaurant is good at acceptable prices (dinner for two around 40,-EUR), a lot of native italians have been there and celebrated a wedding. Breakfast is "italian style",that means just coffee/tee, coissant and some kind of cake; that it. 90 EUR is quite cheap for Rome. You get what you pay for. Not less but not more. It´s an acceptable quality/price ratio, but definitely not a bargain. Additional hint: There is practical no left-luggage room at rome termini (central station). It took about 2,5h !! to deposit the luggage due to "security reasons" (my impression: bad organisation, only one counter open, only one guy working (quite slow) but several other employees just standing around and talking...) and another one hour to get it back. If you book your return flight in the afternoon, be prepared to spend your last day in rome with all your luggage with you!

We were very happy with this hotel. Great service and the price is good. It has a parking lot and is 5 min. walking distance from a train station.

Villa Spada is a great place to stay if you have a car or love trains. It takes THREE of them to get anywhere central. It's not 400 metres from the station it's a good ten minute hike uphill. And it's nowhere near the Via Veneto. However, once you manage to get there, the price is extremely good, and the hotel is very clean and comfortable. And they have their own dining room which I suggest you use if you want to avoid a taxi back at night that costs anywhere from 15 to 25 euros. I changed hotels after 2 days to somewhere more central which, though a lot more expensive and not of noticeably improved quality, had a central location that helped me avoid a lot of further hassle.

The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful; however, the hotel was initially quite difficult to find. The hotel itself was interesting and the food was excellent. Our 3 person room was very large and the bathroom was also large and pleasant.

Clean and simple hotel with very friendly staff. The hotel is in the suburbs so car is, according to me, indispensable. With car it is 10-15 minutes to the central parking close to piazza di spagna, it's perfect if you want to save money on the hotel and do not mind driving a bit. Without car I guess it can take ages, and some areas are not so nice to walk into at night, I would not recommend it to back packers. Of course the surroundings are not particularly fascinating, the hotel is in the suburbian area of villa spada, not so bad, though, because located on a hill. Breakfast is good and consistent. It is possible to eat at night in the restaurant downstairs, fair prices, quite good quality.

Good hotel, friendly staff but far away from public transportation. No problems if you have a car.
