Hotel Stella is a great budget hotel. I read a lot of American complaints on here about it being too small or the breakfast was not enough or the lift is too small. This is Italy people! Why are you in the hotel anyway? As an American traveling with 2 friends it was great. The club downstairs is fun and very friendly to English speakers. Its close to the termini and the university area that has lower cost drinks. Its a simple place for simple people with cost and fun in mind.

Although the room itself was large and clean, the rest of the overnight stay was disapointing. The directions to the hotel from the Termini were very poor. The receptionist was unsmiling and cold with barely an attempt made to answer questions or direct us to a place to eat. She pointed over her shoulder with her thumb and said "everything is okay" when asked for a recommendation. The hotel is located above a "disco bar" so that late into the night (well past 1 a.m.) we heard throbbing bass music coming in through the walls. The air conditioner did not work and the towels were thin and flimsy. We would not stay here again.

Very satisfied with Stella Hotel. The room was very comfortable although the shower was tiny. It was in a central location and handy to the main train station. Staff were quite helpful. Everything was as described in the website... no unpleasant surprises.

Try to avoid the rooms at the front of the hotel immediately above the Julio Cesare bar. They are very loud and quite smoky.

The hotel was accurately represented over the internet and there were no surprises, which is what you always hope for in a visit to a new place. We stayed a week and the consistency of the service day to day was good. While not luxury this was a quiet, comfortable retreat from a busy day that felt like home. Three adults in a triple room worked and contributed to our first trip in Rome being a success. The hotel is well located to the main train station from the airport and subway hub. An all around good location to operate from.
