Romantica
Via Principe Amedeo 77/C - 00185 Rome
The RomAntica is a beautiful little hotel that still maintains its original style and fascination located next to Termini Railway Station in the heart of the city centre of Rome, an ideal position close to everything. Guests can enjoy some very nice activities such as visiting the Colosseum or the Spanish Steps that are located at a short walking distance from the hotel.

The hotel is conveniently located close to Rome's Termini station - about halfway in the direction of Santa Maria Maggiore church. It is a bit more than 5-minute walk but really not far. The receptionist was very friendly and gave us our room immediately although we arrived early (about 10:30am). The room is more spacious than I expected, a very good value for EUR 70 per night (air conditioning is EUR 10 extra).

We were very pleased with our stay. The staff were quite friendly, gave directions when needed (and provided a map,) and even tried to teach us a little Italian after we made some bungled attempts. Our room, though small (but what hotel rooms in Italy aren't?) was clean and surprisingly comfortable. The ensuite bathroom was tiny, but we managed to make it work. We expected to be charged for air conditioning and breakfast. Air conditioning was 10 euro per day, breakfast wound up being included in the room rate! Street noise was barely noticeable. We were so delighted to open our window and be able to hear a violinist and singer on the street below... and when we closed the window again, we couldn't hear a peep from outside. However, noise from the hallway outside our room was definitely noticeable - even amplified! Particularly frustrating when the people in the next room returned drunk and giggly at 3:00 a.m. two night in a row. Do expect to be asked to leave your room key whenever you leave the hotel - presumably to prevent it from being lost or stolen while you're out. This never posed a problem for us. It was one less thing to carry! A small elevator is there, so you don't need to haul your luggage up the stairs. The hotel is located less than 5 minutes walk from the Stazione Termini, which was very convenient for getting on the Metro or catching a bus as needed. (Also convenient for the Leonardo Express train from Fiumicinio.) Not the most picturesque area, but quite handy. Never felt unsafe in the area surrounding the hotel, and even found a delicious place for dinner, 2 blocks away, called Est Est Est. The place immediately outside the hotel had some yummy pizza as well, and outstanding tiramisu. Our experience was good, and we'd definitely recommend Hotel Romantica travellers who don't mind staying in a no-frills type of place.

The room was basic and small but clean and very adequate as a home base. The proximity to Termini Station was wonderful - two blocks to all public transportation. The hotel is within a fair walk (20 minutes) to many points of interest. Staff very pleasant

A bit noisy from the big street outside. But if you pay extra for airconditioning and may be able to close the window at night this wount be a problem. Very nice staff. The price written in the room(100Euro per night) was minor to the price payed while booking via internet(115Euro per night). The hotel is perfectly situated and easy to find. Very clean big rooms. Excellent service. Breakfast was included the first morning only.

The hotel is conveniently located just a couple of blocks south of the Termini train station. The man who checked us in couldn't have been more pleasant. Our room on the 4th floor was clean and perfectly adequate for our needs. There was a decent selection of TV stations. The bathroom, while small, was just fine. The morning breakfast (extra cost) was basic, but filling. There's an Internet point a block away (which a hotel staff member pointed us to), plus several restaurants, stores, and a small supermarket within a block. All in all, a very pleasant place to stay, close to the train station and the Metro. The Metro lines cross at Termini, so both the A and B lines are available. We'll likely stay at the RomAntica the next time we're in Rome.

The price is about right, given the prime location that is quite near to Termini. The room that I'm staying at is facing to the main street, it was very noisy during the night if you didn't purchase the option of air conditioning. The temperature isn't that bad when I visited the hotel in May, so I didn't add the 10 EUROS for air conditioning. However, as I mentioned, the street noise is so loud that I find it quite hard to have a good quality of sleeping. So if you're planning to stay in RomAntica, make sure you add 10 EUROS to your budget and keep the windows shut if you want to have a good sleep.

This hotel is in an excellent location, very close to the main rail station and within walking distance to many museums. Being near the station though means taking a little more care late at night when the security risks are higher. We took the metro out to the roman ruins at Ostica Antica which were impressive. Also took bus H to Trastevere, a bustling, older part of Rome not to be missed, especially the old church with the magnificent mosaic.

Good price, large clean rooms, friendly staff - only problem is location - ideal in that it is a stone's throw from the train station but did not feel safe in that area after dark - would be ok if with a group though. However, would probably stay there again - inside was safe+had a comfortable stay.
