Friendly , helpful staff. Near train station - walkable if you have a map. Comfortable rooms with more than average space. Reasonable value for Rome.

We had a very warm welcome at the Hotel Rex, with a friendly and helpful staff. The room was spacious and well cleaned, and we had a good continental breakfast including scrambled eggs and bacon.

Loved this Hotel The staff at the Rex were some of the best people in Rome! They were so helpful and genuinely cared about your stay at the hotel. The location was within walking distance of most of historical sites and near the Train Station. The hotel itself was old, but what isn’t for being so close to the heart of Rome. One night the firealarm came on because of a broken hot water pipe, showing the age of the building. The room is smaller and from what I was told, that is typical of most older hotels in the area. The breakfast is great. Overall, this hotel made my trip to Rome a great experience, if only every hotel could have the staff, like that staff at the Rex! Traveler's tip on local attractions If you like walking and want to save money on Taxi’s this is a great place to stay.

Great location Don't bother pre booking transport from the airport to your hotel as it can be easily found and is usually cheaper.

Though we reserved a non-smoking room and the room we stayed was truly indicated as a non-smoking room, it had a strong smell of tobacco smoke. Hotel should be checked. The room and furniture look old. Bath towels were washed, but some of them were tatty.
