Principe Eugenio
Via Principe Eugenio 90 Int 4 - 00185 Rome
Hotel Principe Eugenio is situated in the historical centre of Rome, in the characteristic Esquilino district, on the first floor of an early 1900's building, between the Santa Maria Maggiore, Santa Croce and San Giovanni in Laterano basilicas. Thanks to its position and the vicinity (100 metres) to the underground and bus stops, the hotel is the ideal destination for guests travelling for both leisure and business.

We arrived quite late in the evening and were initially put off by the scaffolding outside the building, however once inside, the hotel is lovely. We were made very welcome, offered drinks of our choice (we requested wine and water and given a bottle of each as a welcome gift!). The desk clerk then took time to go over a map of Rome, advising which buses to catch, local decent restaurants, etc. The hotel is only a 5 mins walk from the metro and about 15 mins down to Colleseum, which is worth a night out around, some decent places to eat once you get off the touristy routes. Our room was spacious and had a balcony overlooking the garden. I'd definately return to this hotel again as felt very welcome by the owners/staff and in a good location to explore this wonderful city.

The hotel itself is very nice with friendly staff, clean and good sized rooms and a pretty good breakfast. We also had a balcony which was nice for my husband who is a smoker. This area of Rome is only a 15-20 minute walk or short bus ride away from the centre but is quite run down and could be offputting but we had no trouble at all. There is a truly lovely ice cream factory opposite the hotel which we'd really recommend but there weren't many restaurants and none that tempted us so we didn't eat nearby.

Excellent value, friendly staff and great location. Only 10 mins walk from Termini so you're well placed for buses and trains to see the whole city or beyond. Disregard any comments about the area, my wife & I never felt threatened walking around day or night.

The welcoming was the best among the hotels we stayed in Italy. We were given a map highlighting all major attractions and transportations to and from the hotel. The room was spacious and clean. The bathroom was huge! A/C works fine. The street outside could be noisy but we are tired everynight so weren't really affected. Breakfast was nice too. It was very nice that the owner kindly offer to put yogurt we bought in their fridge. The surroundings is not as bad as some comments indicate. We felt quite safe. But make sure you don't go to the Termini side at night as it could be disturbing. One nice restaurants (Romantica) and an icecream shop (G.Fassi) were nearby. Be aware that onwer has a Chivava.

Clean and comfortable and within reasonable distance from the railway station. Breakfast was not very good and the hotel was not close to any of the main attractions or nice places to eat - except for the great gelati place across the road!

My boyfriend and I stayed 5 nights at this hotel in oct. 2007. We had a very pleasant stay, the owners and staff were fantastic and very polite. Our room was cleaned each day and there were extra towels and pillows provided, and the safe in the room was easy to use. The bed was comfortable, shower pressure and heating great, and breakfast (included) was definetly adequate to get you started each morning. Our room looked just like the pictures on the web site. Once we figured out the bus route (not hard to do) the bus (cant remember the number...), as indicated on the website, takes you from Termini right to the door of the hotel in about 5 minutes or you can walk there in about 10-15. The metro stop wasn't as easy to use and we got a little lost on the first day using the Manzoni stop. We bought a week metro pass for 16 euro and used buses and metro very conviniently the whole stay. The gelato store accross the street from the hotel was the best place we found in all of Rome for value and selection (buy a ticket before you go to order you cones though). We would definetly star here again. As for Rome itself make sure you figure out the buses as soon as you can and get a detailed street map as soon as you arrive otherwise you risk wasting a day trying to navigate you way to the sites. I recommend the Pantheon at night and a day trip to Pompeii (train a little espensive but definetly worth it!) Happy travels!
