Palazzo Cardinal Cesi Hotel Rome
Via Della Conciliazione 51 - 00193 Rome
Palazzo Cardinal Cesi is an historical building which stands on St. Peters Square and is owned by the Generalate of the Salvatorians. The hotel is maintained to the highest standards of first class accommodations, making the whole environment as welcoming and pleasant as a private home. It was built in 1400 and stands on the ancient Via Cornelia that led to the tomb of St. Peter and to the house of Seneca, and for centuries it was owned by leading Roman families, including the Cesi Family, many of whose members became lawyers, senators, bishops and cardinals. In 1600 the Palace was bought by Cardinal Pierdonato Cesi who had it restructured and refurbished, turning it into an antiques and art museum, and installing a well endowed library. Today, the Generalate of the Salvatorians has converted part of the building into a hotel, to create a meeting point for all those who wish to relax and to enrich their mind as well as their spirit.

One of the best kept secrets in Rome! A cousin worked across the street at the Vatican Press Office and didn't know about it. Amazing location at an excellent price. It was cheaper than most places on the other side of Castel S. Angelo. Everything in the hotel is either very new or very old ;-) Everything nice quality. Got bible readings for the day under door in morning. Quiet little bar area looked out beautiful courtyard. Breakfast room still arranged like monks are expected. Didn't get to enjoy it long enough. Very safe place & area even for female alone.

+ The hotel is in a fantastic location. the rooms were spotless and cleaned every day. the staff were very helpful and friendly. the breakfast was adequate although the "hot" food wasn't always. the eggs though were lovely and although i say adequate it certainly kept us going until 1 or 2 o'clock. plenty of restaurants around the vicinity, although we did follow the guide book and eat more in the centre as opposed to around the st peter's square area. apart from the street hawkers, felt safe at all times of day and night. the sights certainly make up for all the walking that you do, it is a spectacular city, dripping in art, history and culture. would certainly recommend the city and hotel to others wishing to travel to rome. - I would have appreciated tea / coffee making facilities in the room, and although the shower was good, it would have been nice to soak (especially our feet) after a hard day around the city. the cobbles are so unforgiving, you really must wear strong comfortable shoes. maybe a foot spa service could be added to the facilities. the only other issue we had was with the number of street hawkers, especially around the famous tourist sites, although the police presence was strong at these areas, the hawkers still got a bit in your face.

Best personel I have seen in Italian hotels for many many years: very friendly, helpful and accomodating. Will definitely stay there again. The peaceful atmosphere once one walks through the main gate is so relaxing, the daily reading from the Gospel one gets under his door every morning and the whole surrounding inside the hotel prepares you for the very short walk to the Vatican and is the start of the pilgrimage to the Vatican. The best for anyone who wants to visit the Vatican and live the relationship with God.

Romantic Trip to Roma - bellissimo!!!! My boyfriend and I wanted a beautiful hotel, in a wonderful location and we had both here! The location is fantastic, 200m and your in St Peters Basilica! I loved the city; it certainly lived up to its expectations - so too did the hotel. The photos on the site really do not do it justice. We wanted to see everything, and the location of this hotel was perfect for that. One great thing is that the open top bus tour is a stones throw away, so we paid for a 48 hour pass which allowed us to drop off and on the bus wherever we wanted - we saw everything!!! The hotel was extremely comfortable, marble and cherry oak everywhere (sounds ornate but it was fanastic). The staff were friendly and extremely helpful - recommending the right trattorias and the wrong ones too The breakfast was also great; plentful and delicious! LOVED IT LOVED IT LOVED IT. Please visit!
