OLD TOWN APARTMENTS
Piazza Santa Maria Maggiore 12 - 00185 Rome
Bed and Breakfast Maggiore is situated on the first floor of a building which dates back to the 1800s. Just opposite the B&B is the impressive Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, one of the most important churches and a must-see in Rome. Just a short walk away is one of Rome's most famous landmarks, the Colosseum, as well as the sprawling ruins of the Roman Forum. The area is locally known as Rione Monti and is characterised by its small, winding lanes and typical mediaeval squares. Getting around Rome is also made easy, as the city's main train station (Termini) and transport hub is conveniently just a stone's throw away. The facilities at the bed and breakfast include a 24-hour reception, breakfast room, cot available on request, ironing facilities and a lift. Small pets are allowed. Plase note: The B&B Maggiore accepts Visa and Mastercard as guarantee and payments.

+ Very impressed with the quality. - The apartments we stayed at were very substandard. The beds were uncomfortable, there weren't enough towels, no shower curtain, no elevator in either building for an injured party, loud construction very early in the m

+ Majority of staff very friendly and accomadating as we had an elderly member in our party. basic but clean. good base - Had to pay for all of stay on arrival in cash which was unexpected and as we didn't have enough cash on us we were told to go to cash point across the street - not expected and some people would have budgeted for it to go onto a card. also all details stated that there was a lift however, it does not go to the 1st floor where the b&b is which meant a 30 step climb up a dimly lit staircase everytime you went in or out the hotel.

+ Nice staff! very helpfull and attentive to our needs. hotel was very clean. we have staied for 10 days and our sheets have been replaced one every three days. however, this was not the case with the towels...quiet location near termini station (5 min by foot). supermarket just across the street, three coffee shops nearby. just in fron of the building was santa maria maggiore (room view however is to sant prassede, to the back of the building). nevertheless, san pressede has one of the finest mosaics in rome...nice view anyway! nice connection by bus 70 from piazza venezia, just 5 stops away and much nicer than the subway. - Just the towels. never changed during 10 days. teh rest was excellent.

+ The staff were all really friendly and eager to help, rooms were lovely; so clean with towels and all linen changed for clean every four days. breakfast was spartan but fine. easy to come and go as you please as you are given key to front door. great location. very enjoyable stay, will definitely be returning. - As i was on the top floor i did not receive signal for wireless internet; inconveinent but not the end of the world. also my room had no view to speak of which was fine for me but others may find it disappointing.

+ As a place to simply 'get your head down' between days of sightseeing it's all you need. good value, cleaned daily and friendly staff. only 10 mins walk from the termini and 15 mins from the colosseum. - Would have been impossible to find had we not read the useful tips of previous guests. the traffic outside is noisy and the windows are not very soundproof. probably not good for light sleepers.

+ Really more of a simple hotel than a b&b, but clean, tidy, quiet and practical. - Breakfast wasn't very good. but fortunately there are plenty of excellent cappuccino-bars just a few meters from the b&b.
