Mariano Hotel Rome
Piazza Fanti Manfredo 19 - 00185 Rome
The Hotel Mariano, originally built in 1880 to accommodate the officers of the new born Italian Kingdom and later converted into a hotel, is situated on the Esquilino, one of the seven famous hills of ancient Rome. The Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore (432 - 440 A.C.), the Opera Theatre (1880), the Colosseum (72 A.C.), the therms of Diocletian (303 A.C.)and the Roman National Museum are some of the interesting places to visit close to the hotel. The central railway station , Termini, is within 5 minutes walking distance from the hotel . From Termini is possible to reach any point of the city ,thanks to the A and B underground lines and several bus lines. The hotel is in a very comfortable position for passengers who arrive at Leonardo da Vinci (Fiumicino) airport thanks to the direct train service from the airport to Termini station. The hotel offers 33 rooms all of which have: private bathrooms, direct telephone, safety box, hair dryer, central heating, and Sat. TV.

Very convenient location, walk to the train station and metro, bus terminals; but also very quiet. We slept with windows open and never noticed any noise. Clean and comfortable rooms, with quaint characteristics to make the stay special. Continental breakfast and a good value overall. Very knowledgeable and helpful staff. They saved us from missing our plane home! Good restaurant just next door.

A good hotel, with an excellent location if you are arriving in central Rome from the airport .The hotel is located 3-4 blocks from the terminal. Near by, the big basilica of St. Mary and the wonderful byzantine mosaic of S.ta Prasede. I walked to the Colosseum in aprox. 25 minutes. If you take the underground is only 2 stops to the Colosseum and the forums.Room spacious and very comfortable beds, everything worked properly. The staff was nice and helpful, very good value for money .Recommended.

Excellent choice Don't be put off by the stairs to reach the Cupola at St Peter's Basilica, there is a lift to take you half way! This sight is a must.

+ The reception staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. The hotel itself was well located, clean and perfect for our trip. Unexpensive compared to other 3 star hotels in Rome.

I think the Mariano was the best of the 9 hotels where I stayed in Europe (2 four star, 6 three star and 1 two star ) . Very good value for money. Excellent location: It was my third time in Rome, but I never stayed in the area of the Central Station. I did not Know that this area had much more services than others places. From the Central Station, connections to the Rome's main monuments are always direct (last time I was in the Vatican area and I remember that I had to change 2 or more busses to reach other areas) .I found there a 24 hours-drugstore (never seen in Rome !)and everything you may need : subway lines, bus lines, international newspapers, all the main car hire companies, change offices, banks, a huge shopping center (I even bought there the tickets for the Opera !) . Highly recommended +++
