Not please with the room cleanliness and friendliness of the staff. I found that the staff was very standoffish and did not proactively seek to make you feel welcome. When we asked advice of the concierge about what to do, places and shows to see, they were not very helpful. In addition I also rented a Hertz car for one day. Luckily the taxi driver knew of the drop-off location and got us there. The following day I returned the rental late as I could not find any open gas stations in Rome - and this using a GPS! I had to leave Rome and return to the highway to find an open gas station. I then returned my wife to the hotel because she was fed up and returned the rental shortly there after. After returning the car, I was told by the car rental attendant that "it's not my problem" that all of Rome is on vacation and proceeded to charge me for a full extra day. I tried to reason with him but he did not lift a finger to be helpful let alone pleasant. He explained that I could keep the car another day but I told him that I had a flight the next day and did not want to run into any further complications than I already have just prior to leaving. When I asked him I could speak to his manager or their head office he told me that neither was available due to vacations.

The only good thing about this hotel was the decent location. I was very disappointed in the hotel.

Excellent staff. We took a 5 day trip to Florence, and forget to take our American cash from the safe. We called and they told us they had it and were holding it for us until our return.

The hotel is centrally located on top of the Spanish Steps. It is very close to a subway and within walking distance of the Coliseum, Pantheon, Fountain of Trevi etc. Rooms are small but very nice.

Perfect location in middle of everything, unless you have a disability or a condition that woudl prevent you from going up and down stairs. It is located almost directly above the Spanish Steps. So you have to up and down almost two hundred steps everytime you leave or return from your hotel. You can go down the street and around, but that's up to you! Anyway, they treated us amazingly, and catered to all their guests. Perfect hotel stay for my husband and I!!!

Excellent hotel and staff. Very courteous and helpful at every turn. Hotel room very nice, but would have liked a bit more closet space. Complimentary gifts made this stay very special and one of the best trips we've had in a long time due to the attentiveness of the hotel staff and concierges.

This hotel is located at the top of the Spanish Steps with access to everything that is Rome. There are many good hotels in Rome, but what sets this one apart is the fabulous staff. They actually want to help you. I have been traveling to Rome for over twenty years and I have never found any hotel more anxious to help you than the De La Ville. The rooms are spacious and have recently been up graded to real luxury. Ask for a room that does not face the street. (the Via Sistina is quite busy) There is a nice lounge on the second floor for a late night apertif. Try to book it with the breakfast option. It is great and you won't even think about food until supper.

The location was the best part of it. I was able to go anywhere in rome. The food at the restuarant in the hotel was really good except the dessert. I really suggest it.
