staff was nice. The room is average, but the shower was in a weird position. We had 1 bed reserved, but it turned out to be two twins pushed together, each with their own blankets, which was a little uncomfortable. The towels were thin and not very soft. We loved the location. It's on a quiet side street and very close to Piazza Barberini and lots of sidewalk restaurants and several tour buses stop nearby. Trevi Fountain and Villa Borghese are in easy walking distance. Breakfast was good. They had fried eggs, bacon, beans, toast, cheese, and lots of fruit and juices.

+ We booked this hotel on the strength of these reviews, so we are very keen to tell it as it really is. we found hotel residenza to be everything we wanted, although small, only 30 rooms, and in a side street off the main tourist routes, it was perfect for a weeks stay in rome. in fact its location proved to be a real bonus as it really was just off the main tourist route of via veneto and very easily accessible from piazza barbarini, the nearest metro stop. from the outside the hotel does not give the impression of a 4 star, but as soon as you walk through the main entrance any doubts are immediately dispelled. the reception rooms of the hotel are immaculately presented and maintained and the standard continues throughout. our room was very large with a huge double bed and furnishings and fittings in keeping with the standard of the hotel. the term buffet breakfast does not do justice to the extensive choice and quality available. the staff, without exception, were all polite, helpful and very professional. we would recommend this hotel, without reservation, to anyone. although we have recommended this hotel as being suitable fro mature travellers, it is in fact suitable for anyone looking for a quality hotel in the centre of rome. - Negativity is a relative term, and this may be a really small point, but, given the standard of the hotel and obvious effort put in to making visitors as comfortable as possible, it was somewhat surprising to discover that although tea and coffee making facilities were available in rooms, the charge of 1 euro 50 cents for a tea bag appeared somewhat ridiculous, but easily resolved with a trip to the local spar.

The location is excellent, especially if you are used to walking. We went everywhere on foot - the Vatican, the Forum, Trastevere. Don't miss the Villa Borghese, a lovely park just a few blocks away. We felt completely safe and comfortable in the hotel's neighborhood. The staff steered us to nearby restaurants with excellent food and reasonable prices. Be forewarned that Rome prices are higher than those in the parts of the country that are less mobbed by tourists - and Rome is definitely mobbed.
