Couldn’t have made a better choice I don’t know if we were lucky to get a room on the top floor or what. All I know was that we loved the hotel and the location and the staff and the breakfast. All these thicgs considered I would recommend this hotel to anyone seeking the perfect location for downtown Rome at a really reasonable price Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay As for everything else I value several aspects before I make a choice. Therefore as I wanted to be close to restaurants, buses, and within walking distance to practically everything Rome can offer ( and it is a lot, believe me! ) the choice to stay at Barocco was superlative. Highly recoommended indeed!!

Great Staff Very friendly and helpful front desk staff. Quality hotel in great location. Room was small, but I understand that is fairly typical in Rome. Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks If taking a cab from rail station to hotel, confirm price with driver before getting in. Our first quote was 30 EUR; we refused and got a quote from another driver for 15 EUR. It’s very close to hotel. If not a lot of luggage, take subway from rail station to Piazza Barbarria for only 1 EUR per person. But must carry bags up stairs. Subway stops right next to hotel.

Very Pleased - but quite noisy I was very pleased with this hotel. It was conveniently located near a metro stop. The desk attendants were very helpful and always kind. The room was clean and the service each day was excellent. The bathroom was nice; however, the shower faucet leaked and though we told 2 people it never got fixed. The worst part of the stay was the noisy, noisy area. Even so, Rome was so busy and so crowded, it may be that way in every hotel. Also quite warm at night but I would hope they would run A/C when further into Spring

We could not have made a better choice! There are hundreds of small hotels in Rome and hardly any major chains, so picking this one seemed a bit risky, having never been to Rome before. That this was such a good choice is almost miraculous. Perfect central location, very close to Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Via Veneto and more, plus buses, taxis, and metro station are right in the square outside. The very high ceilings make the rooms seem very airy and roomy, and our visit was in the middle of July so it was a relief that the air conditioning worked like a dream. The bathroom was also a good size with a nice, strong shower. Also, the staff was perfect, very friendly, professional, and accomodating. They happily arranged dinner reservations, transportation to the airport, and even special housekeeping requests, making the logistics of our stay almost effortless. A very nice, better-than-expected breakfast is also included. The noisiness mentioned in other reviews is just Rome, and not intrusive at all. Really, we had no complaints. To be honest, if I only saw this hotel from the outside, it would not be the one I would pick, because it’s not much to look at from the street. But the charm, convenience, service, and value (compared to what you could pay elsewhere) will make this my first choice whenever I return to Rome. Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay First, don’t expect a typical North American hotel. This is Europe. Accept and enjoy that things are different here, including the hotel accomodations. Second, ask the front desk for dinner recommendations. They sent us to nearby (walking distance) places with fantastic, beautiful food that was reasonably priced -- and they even called ahead and made reservations for us. Third, Rome’s streets are very confusing when walking around. Get a good easy-to-read map and bring a compass!

Beautiful Hotel, Prime Location, Friendly Staff I can’t say enough about this Hotel. The people were friendly and helpful, the place is classy and beautiful, the breakfast was fantastic, and the room was a wonderful place to come to after a long day hiking throughout the city. If I could’ve improved anything, it would be the strength of the air-conditioning. That could’ve been more powerful, but it was hardly an inconvenience. Also the wireless signal was weak and didn’t work for me during the last couple days - understandable since it IS Europe really (or it could’ve just been my particular PDA not functioning correctly), but they did charge a lot for access. The maid service was amazing, fast and thorough - but if you leave your stuff laying about, they will rearrange it to tidy up and make the room look straightened. A nice thing to come back to at the end of the day, but also a little nerve-racking to try and find your stuff when it’s not where you left it - something to keep in mind! All in all, it was a great experience and I’d recommend it to my best friends and family. The kindly staff offered to hold our luggage after check-out since our flight didn’t leave til later that night, which was a huge weight off our shoulders. They spoke great English and were totally amiable. I would definitely go back! Traveler's tip on local attractions Some of the best attractions are right around this central location and within easy walking distance. Otherwise there is a bus stop down the hill offering a handful of connections to dozens of destinations. Also, the metro stop is a few meters up the street, which is also a huge convenience when traveling crosstown.

Rome’s best value Our 1st trip to Europe at age 60, looking for value and location. Comparable to a Comfort Inn or Hilton Garden in USA. Barocco exceeded our expectations. Excellent: location, comfort, customer service, value for city center. We power walked to Spanish Steps in 8 minutes. Best coffee in Italy at morning breakfast. After taking Leonardo Express train from airport, then subway to Barberini stop, the walk was appox. 80 yards if you have correct directions. Hotel entrance is on a small side street (Purificazione)on the right. Our room 19 looked over Barberini fountain. At check-out, bill was $0, with pre-payment to Expedia there were no surprises. We stayed in similar priced hotels in Venice and Florence, Barocco was the best. We recommend this hotel if you get the larger rooms - just ask by email before you go. We had a sitting area with sofa. Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay If pulling luggage, do not use subway - too many steps. Taxi is reasonable priced (15 Euro.) Ask hotel desk for Rome map and directions. ATM’s are available and easy to use, you do not need US dollars. Make sure you have your local bank unlock your card to use in Italy before you go. Learn a few words in Italian before you go. Prego means "you’re welcome."
