Simple Yet Effective There are lots of friendly and family run restaurants close by. They serve traditional Italian cuisine from Roma to Sardinia. Great value for money too! Although most of the waiters understand orders in English, the learning of a few basic Italian phrases is much appreciated. Also, they can get busy in the evenings, so make a reservation or eat outside the peak time of around 20:00 to 21:00. Remember that Italians love there food and some meals can be gargantuan so you've been warned!

Hotel Apollo was great! The staff was very friendly, most of them spoke English, they were very helpful with info about buses, taxis, attractions, etc. There is a room offering internet access. Breakfast was good - lots of fruit, cereal, rolls, juices, cold cuts, cheeses, American coffee (they will happily make capacino or espresso). No bacon/eggs but we're not in the USA! Our room was fine, with Tv, safe, refrig. The maids made it up daily. Bathroom was huge - small shower but par for Europe. Location was ideal - you can see the Colesseum from the hotel (maybe 6 blocks away). It's an easy stroll to Trevi, a little farther to Spanish Steps, Parthenon, Piazza Narvona, etc. Easy bus connection to the Vatican. Several restaurants within 1-2 blocks - also great gelato store. The price was as advertised which was very reasonable for Rome. We would definitely stay here again.

Great Choice for Rome I had a wonderful stay at Hotel Apollo. I was a little distressed that the owners spoke no English so communication was difficult at best. Breakfast was delicious. A vast array of option (of course no eggs) but the pastries were warm and fresh! It’s on the rooftop which was perfect for the warm summer days. Great location. Very near to the Metro Cavour and Colleseum stops. Would stay here again. No Wifi, can use the computer in the bar area for 2 Euro per 30 minutes.

Very nice, very friendly, typical family hotel. Stayed there to feast our 25th wedding anniversary and the owner was very helpful in getting a champagne-breakfast organised. Also very well situated near city centre and/or suitable buses. Hope to get back some time.

Very impressed! Excellent location - just down the street from Colesseum. Friendly and helpful staff - recommended some excellent restaurants in the area. Room was a bit small but very clean and more than adequate. Nice roof terrace for breakfast. Would definitely go back to this hotel!!

Everything about the Apollo was pleasant, given that it's a budget hotel and you don't expect much as a single traveler. Public areas are close to nil, but breakfast was served in a roof garden full of jasmine. It's near the station but on a side street and there are good restaurants all around. I would use it again as a base for all sorts of activities in central Rome.
