The 4 star Ergife Palace Hotel is Rome's most modern congress centre. It lies in a residential area close to the stops of the bus and the subway connecting it to St Peter's Square, the main station (Stazione Termini) and the centre. The 812 well furnished rooms, paying attention to every single detail, are very comfortable. We visited Italy 2 years ago and stayed at the Ergife Palace Hotel in Rome. It was a spacious, lovely hotel. It has 2 restaurants and is a short taxi ride from all of the sights you will want to visit while you are in Rome.

If you read down through the reviews of the hotel you will be struck by the wide variance of opinions. There is a very good reason for this that you should be aware of before staying there.

The hotel needs some kind of restoration; it seems to be quite ancient

The rooms is dirty and substandard to human. I'm disapointed with Trafagar Tour. I'll not stay at that Hotel ever again. I was so happy to get out of that place.

20 mins to wait for drinks at the bar when we were the only 2 people. Being given the absolute crappiest room for 150 euro and having to ask for a room change. Very narrow lifts - two people with luggage at a time.

My husband and I stayed at the hotel from the 26th of June to 17th of July 2007. In few words our stay was a wonderful mix of lying in the sun by the excellent swimmingpool, at the hotel, and sightseeing all around Rome. We were a bit worried after seeing some ugly remarks on this page about the hotel but when we got there we fortunately saw that they were not true. Our room was excellent; modernly designed, nice and clean with a balcony. It was surely big enough for both of us and air conditioning was working well. The staff at the hotel was nice, with very few exceptions. The waiters at the restaurant and bar were great! They tought us Italian and sang for us.

The following is excerpts from my letter to the hotel after returning home. It describes in detail our horrible experience with the Ergife Hotel booked through Trafalgar Tours. I will try to post some of my pictures.

This hotel is not the hotel you want to stay at if you visit Rome. Its just a big old dirty place with a 1000 rooms....not at all 4 star quality. The rooms are dirty, small...no amenities. Worse of all is the service the hotel offers...I should say lack of service. The reception staff is rude and unwilling to help guests. Drinks at the bar are expensive...taxi rides to Rome center around 12 Euros....you'll end up spending more in transportation than if you stayed closer to the city center. Stay away from this place!!!!

DONT EVER GO TO THIS HOTEL ! It looks very nice on the internet, you get impression of a great place to stay, BUT real situation is totally different. Rooms are so small that we couldn’t place our things on the floor actually we had around 50cm or 17inches of available space around bed. If you want to sleep in a quite room you have to pray that nobody is in room next to your, cause you can clearly hear what people are talking quite in another room - I actually thought that somebody get in my room so I woke up few times a night and start screaming WHO IS IT ! My girlfriend and I stayed here for 3 days. First day we didn’t have hot water and heating (It was WINTERTIME, and we where freezing) When I made first complaint they sad SORRY, but they didn’t do ANYTHING. Second day we still didn’t have heating. Breakfast is worst I had in any hotel, especially 4 star hotels. We get one kind of bread (not fresh one), one kind of cheapest cheese...ALL CHEAP and not tasty, even juice wasn’t juice but some kind of sweet water… SO NEXT DAYS WE HAD BREAKFAST OUT OF THIS HOTEL. Oh yes, receptionist didn’t want to call a cab or taxi. He sad he called before and they where unavailable, so my girlfriend made a call and reach them immediately. I HAVE NO IDEA HOW THEY COULD RATE THIS PLACE WITH 4 STARS. Don’t be blunder with word PALACE in the name it is only a trick. It is ERGIFE PALACE HOTEL On the end we made complain because all of this and more. We (My girlfriend and me) paid around 150 US$ per night. To show us how sorry they are they gave us free drink - bottle of water WOW! We forgot them all because of that bottle of water! My God what a place! Don’t made our mistake and say in this dump! I will put my full name to prove that this is all true! I book this hotel over Venere.com No.1297273 and stay in it from 30.12.2004. to 02.01.2005. Best regards to all! Alen Karlo
