Affordable Hotel The location of this hotel is a plus. It is located one block from the metro station. There are several attractions located at walking distance from the hotel. The Corot offers free breakfast. However, they do not offer internet services. I would recommend this place if your plan is to spend most of they day outdoors. Traveler's tip Practice negotiation skills before arriving to Rome. You will need them.

Unfortunate location The Corot is hardly a block from Termini and suffers from proximity. This is a high traffic block and there is no buffer between the hotel and the outside world. We stayed here because it was available on short notice and the price was not as outrageous as so many hotels in Rome. The staff were courteous and available and the room, tho’ small, was clean. The only complaint is that the room had a strong odor of cigarette smoke. Under the same circumstances, I would stay here again. Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks In Rome, eating at a "restaurant" means spending 35 euro or usually more for two people. We spent 37 euro for a spaghetti dinner for two. To save a couple of bucks, have one nice fancy expensive dinner (to say you did it) and eat the rest of your meals in a pizzeria or bar. There you can usually get a pizza, maybe some pasta, and fresh sandwiches with beer or wine for under 20 euro.

Good value for money My mother and I stayed at the hotel for three days and two nights. On a whole this hotel we found that the hotel gives you good value for money. The rooms were tidy and comfortable and the bathroom was lovely. We could hear the noise at night from the cafe on the street below, but it was pleasant, not intrusive. The breakfast was quite nice as well and the lady who was overseeing the dining room was very warm and friendly. The hotel kept our bags after we checked out so that we could attend the Pope’s General Audience, which was extremely convenient. The only downside was that the reception staff was not very friendly or helpful. Although I was trying to convince myself that their apparent unfriendliness was just a consequence of the language barrier, I was not too successful! Luckily though, we were able to find things out by asking others and by being resourceful. We were able to communicate with other Italians (not employed in the tourism sector) who displayed the warmth and enthusiasm which was lacking from the staff at the front desk. I think that the hotel could improve in this area by giving reception staff some pointers on how to give guests a warm welcome. In conclusion, it was very enjoyable and we would recommend staying there, but I would also mildly caution anyone not to expect too much from the staff at the front desk, so as to avoid any disappointment. Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks Buy the Roma Pass! It gives unlimited access to public transportation, your visits to the first three sites and/or museums involved in the Roma Pass initiative are free, and you get discounts on visits to the others. We were able to jump the line at the Colosseum because of it. And watch your bags on a crowded Metro.
