We stayed in the Colonna Palace twice, for three nights each, in may '06. One time the room and service was fine. The other time the room was horrible and no amount of requesting was able to get simple things repaired. (Like hot water that wouldn't shut off, door locks loose, falling molding, loss of English news TV channel)

Although located in great area of Rome, this hotel is far from a four star rating. NO Air Conditioning and did not care to repair it...keep lying to us that it was getting repaired...3 days later..still no air. The walls up on the 6th floor are crumbling away and falling on the floor. The elevator was broken for 4 days. The same bottle top that was under the desk remained there the entire time we stayed in the room..what does this tell you about the cleaning?? Our friends we still there once we returned to states and the air still was not operating..the staff was not very moved by our being uncomfortable and offered nothing as a token. They even charged for the bottled water in the room!! I will never stay in the dump and would not recommend it to anyone!

terrible hotel service Hotel service is terrible, staff are careless, and they do not offer any kind of minimum level of assistance( like call a taxi). Breakfast is so poor. in my room the bed was broken.

Great location of this old world charm hotel. Walking distance to all major sites in Rome. Fabulous rooftop garden where free breakfast is served with incredible views of all of Rome. What a delight. The hotel manager, Francesco, could not have been more accomodating and friendly. This was my first time at this hotel and fourth time in Rome. Will definitely go back here in the future. If you want a true Roman experience: the rooms, the three separate living rooms that make up the lobby, and the perfect location in the heart of Rome, stay here. I know I will.

Colonna Place was....just OK Colonna Palace was an excellent location, most sites we were able to walk to. We were disappointed in the concierge/front desk service. Also the front lobby had a strong musky odor..needs refurbishing. There is no counter space or hooks also in the bathroom, and we did not have a bath tub-only a shower. The TV is Italian only, not even CN or BBC-tough for a news junky.Wi-fi is available for a fee, but only in the lobby-very inconvinient. I would book again only because of the excellent location-the hotel itself needs work. Traveler's tip on dining Do not ask the concierge for restaurant suggestions! Many wonderful places to eat within walking distance of hotel.

Service a bit questionable Hotel was nice enough, great location, but when we asked for a dinner recommendation, they sent us to a restaurant that was quite pricey without the quality to match. The concierge didn’t even ask what type of food/place we were looking for before he blurted out his recommendation; the room we received was on the first floor (above street level) with had no elevator access. Our room was located directly above a busy street, so we got to listen to delivery trucks while we slept; Breakfast was nice, and waitstaff was very helpful, but when one of my friends asked the front desk about arranging a cab to the train station, they kept trying to get her to use their private car service instead of simply arranging for the cab pickup. Btw, cab fare to/from hotel shouldn’t cost more than 10 euros, so don’t get taken by unscrupulous cabbies

The location is very good as you are in the middle of the historic center. The room was nice and clean. The hotel has a nice roof terrace with a beautiful view of Rome. We had ordered a tripple room and had expected more space. The room we got was a standard doubleroom with an extra bed.
