What do you need in a hotel? A clean bed, nice bathroom, nice service and if included, a good breakfast. If any of these fail, then the stay is not perfect. And this hotel almost makes it, but the breakfast is so poor, specially the service, that...

I have been to italy 5 times is the past 7 years with different people each time. We have always visited Rome for about 3 days. The Mediterraneo is right across the street from the train terminal. Easy to walk even with your luggage, and I'm old. After staying in the Mediterraneo the first trip, I wouldn't stay anywhere else. Location was PERFECT we always bought a "rail pass" and the train station was right there. Right outside the hotel door on the corner to your right is one of the best little restaurants in Rome. Great food and "very" friendly staff. The staff in the hotel is wonderfull too and speak perfect English. The rooms are clean, spacious, comfortable and the breakfast is spectacular. I like the fact that the train station and the double decker tour bus is across the street. I think that bus is the best way to get your first, and an overall view of Rome. That is the best bargain in town. I have family in Treviso so that is my home base, but I wouldn't miss the part of the trip that is Rome and a very big part of that is the Mediterraneo Hotel and it's warm hospitality and courteous and friendly staff. Can't wait to return.

Great Hotel This hotel has a great location. It is one block away from Rome’s main train and bus station (Termini). They speak English and our room was very comfortable. Breakfast was great! I will definitely recommend this hotel. Don’t rent a car. It is difficult to find parking places. Buy metro cards and you can ride in the Metro and bus as well. The train from airport to Termini is cheaper than other ways of transportation.

Perfect place to stay in Rome Get the Rome Pass and use it to bypass lines at the Coliseum. Also pays for 3 days of transit.
