Amalia Hotel Rome
Via Germanico 66 - 00192 Rome
Lying on one of Rome's most prestigious districts, this hotel is situated at the heart of the historical city, within a short distance of the Vatican (approximately 200 m away). Affording a wealth of attractions, some of the most famous restaurants are also to be found in the local area. The historical centre is a pleasant, 15-minute stroll away across the River Tiber in the Trastevere quarter, which is a great place to spend an evening in one of the good restaurants or trendy bars and nightclubs and to mingle with up and coming business leaders, artists and politicians. It is a few minutes to the Spanish Steps, great historic squares such as the Piazza Navone where artisans sell their wares, the Trevi fountain and the great testimonies to human history such as the Colosseum, the Circus Maximus and the Forum Romanum. Leonardo da Vinci airport is around 40 km away and it is some 50 km to Ciampino airport.

While the room was nice, compared to other Hotels we visited during our stay, I found the price of the room too high for the quality of the room and the services offered. Unless either improved, I would not stay there again.

I have been staying here since 2004 and love it!!! Excellent location, excellent value and exceptional staff. It is because of them that Italy is the only country in the world I feel safe enough to travel alone and stay alone. It has never happened but everyone else that has traveled w/me feels the same...

The hotel is nice for European standards. We had a big room although there was only a small shower. Im not sure if they have king-sized beds at the hotel because we were given two twin beds together. The room was extremely clean...

I like nice places and this hotel is nice...however, the people were VERY snobby and its like you have to be super dressed up and look elegant at ALL times....this is supposed to be a vacation spot!

Very good location (near St Peter's)and accomodating bilingual staff (at least at the reception). Safe surroundings. Generous servings for breakfast but coffee not so good.

When we decided to take a side trip to Rome for a couple days after attending a conference in Florence, it was a challenge to find a nice hotel that we could afford. After much time with travel books and internet searches, I decided to just pick one and then had second thoughts that it might be too close to the Vatican and not close enough for the rest of Rome. I was pleasantly surpised. This hotel is located very close to the vatican and with the metro station just a short walk away the rest of the city was a short ride away. The superior double room was large by European standards. The breakfast room on the 2nd floor was filled with many delights that changed daily. The entire staff was extremely professional and Leonardo, in particular, went out of his way to make our stay exceptionally enjoyable. Rome at the end of October was very pleasant and a light jacket or wrap was all we needed. We were fortunate and had no rain for the week that we were there. Great for walking around a truely lovely city.
