Amadeus

Via Gioberti 39 - 00185 Rome

Hotel Amadeus enjoys a very central location in the heart of Rome and within 10 minutes' walk from Termini central station and all the interesting spots for shopping and culture, such as the Colosseum, the Spanish Steps, the Opera house and the shops in via Nazionale. The front desk is always open and the staff is ready help out guests with any assistance or advice they might need. Guests are also welcome to enjoy the open terrace, which is particularly remarkable during spring, summer and autumn. The hotel furthermore features a restaurant - Elettra - offering traditional Roman and regional cuisine.

Except lift speed, everything was very good.

Our room smelled horrible, and the hotel personel had no personality...but it was very clean.

Nice hotel for a short trip. Good located near the railway station, but important and noisy traffic in the hotel street. The windows should close better....

The Amadeus lives up to its previous good reviews. We stayed there for 4 nights and were impressed by the friendliness of the staff especially the lady in charge of the breakfasts - always had a big smile for everybody. Our room was compact but utterly spotless and serviced everyday to perfection. Our only complaint was at times it was noisy and I would advise you ask for a room away from the Breakfast room if you want to sleep past 6.30am. Breakfast choice is limited to pastries mostly - great for those with a sweet tooth but it does the job. Location wise at night you get the impression it's a slightly less safe area but I have to admit that faded as I got used to the surroundings. You're a 3 minute walk from Termini station and the main bus depot - an utterly perfect location for exploring Rome. If its value for money, access to public transport and friendly service you're after then I can't recommend Amadeus enough - despite the slightly dodgy area. That being said the Termini area is packed with tourists and restaurants so it can't be that bad!

Nice hotel. Seems just renovated. Very good communicatied with rest of the city(metro/train/bus), but it also means not-so-nice surroundings. Reception personnel very nice and competent. Obvious choice for next visit - if paid by company, personnaly, I will also check less expensive hotels before final decision.

It was my second time to come to Roma, Italy and Europe. I triped Italy,Frence,Netherland and Bergium for 3 weeks. Roma is the first city I stay in Europe this time. In my first trip, I heard many hotels in Rome was expensive. So I only afforded B&B. In this trip, I could get such a reasonable hotel in central of Roma! Hotel Amadeus is exellent hotel if you stay in Roma. The first thing I have to write is location of this hotel. It's very near to the central station! Then, staffs in this hotel are all welcoming and kind for us. We can only speak poor English(we are Japanese), but a couple of staffs can speak English fluently. The room were all confortable and quite. It was not so big but was just size for us. We were satisfied with our rooms exept for no bath tub(Japanese like taking baths). We can easiliy recommend this hotel for all travellers going to Roma. We stayed this hotel for 3days and have no trouble. If you are Japanese, plese ask staff whether anyone who can speak Japanese. While our stay, we met one of the staff can speak Japanese.

The only thing that was awful was that my husband whom is dying from cancer, who the trip was for, was robbed by three gypsies as soon as we got out of the taxi, directly in front of the hotel Amedeus. My son grabbed two of them and rescued my husbands money. the two young men whi were working on 27 sept. 2004 at 10 a.m. also were very helpful. I only wish we knew that it was a high traffic area for gypsies and pickpockets.

Amadeus is in an excellent central location. Overall it was about what I expected. The best aspect was the friendliness of the breakfast lady. But the breakfast was rather simple and no fresh fruit. However, there were a few details that detract from the overall quality of the place. 1. It has the slowest lift I've ever seen and no stairs as an alternative. This was more than annoying as the lift frequently got stuck. 2. The rooftop garden was interesting but extremely noisy from road traffic. 3. On checking out, the hotel refused my credit card. In fact it refused 5 different credit cards from 3 banks! I was forced to get cash from an ATM to pay the bill. I did not have any credit card problems elsewhere before or after my stay at Amadeus. I've checked with my bank and there were no known problems at that time. It seems to me that Amadeus either has problems with some credit cards or a policy of discouraging credit card usage. The only other time I had a similar problem was 2 nights earlier at the restaurant "Elettra" which is also run by the same management as Amadeus. Thus, I suspect that there is a policy of deliberately discouraging credit card usage. I'd like to hear from others on this topic. On balance, I will NOT be staying at Amadeus again.

I found the hotel Amadeus very convenient to the Termini station...price quite reasonable.

this was the first time we had been to amedeus and myself and my friends were very pleased with the hotel. luigi - on reception - was very good. very helpful and accomodating. breakfast is a bit limited on choice but good coffee and helpful staff. hotel is reasonably priced for the area, very central for all tourist spots and 100yds walk from termini.
