Not quite perfect Cologne is the home to "kolsch" a unique, regional craft beer. There are many restaurants within walking distance where you can sample kolsch, which is served in small glasses by waiters carrying carousels of beer.

Wasserturm clean, convenient, and elegant Wasserturm is a unique hotel nestled in the neighborhoods of Cologne. It has unique style and architecture. It is also convenient to public transportation and with quick reach to the center of Cologne. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and well appointed. For these reasons it is ideal for both business and a couple’s getaway. In addition, from the rooms on the upper floors all of Cologne can be viewed via a surrounding balcony. On the downside, the amenities were pricey, so for cost conscious travelers it leaves something to be desired.

The hotel is round and the rooms are not your typical hotel room. Our room was split level with a sitting area downstairs and a sleeping area upstairs. It was nicely decorated and we felt at home. The room only had one window. The service was good. The hotel was in a residential area and required a cab to the tourist section/shops.

This is absolutely our favorite place to stay in the world. It is such a distinctive property in a restored water tower. Our room on an upper floor had a sliding glass door which you could take to to walk on the outside of the building. The view is stunning.

Will definitely return Having reviewed the room options on their website, I had some idea of what to expect when I arrived. The reception was excellent and the staff appeared to be very knowledgeable. I arranged for an early check-in, which was no problem at all for them and I was whisked up to my room on arrival, given a brief orientation and left to my own devices. The Junior Suite is a bit smaller than it appears on the photos, but it is well laid-out and has all the amenities. Particularly important to me were the small design details, such as the ability to separate the WC from the bathroom by closing a sliding door, and the walk-in closet/dressing room area. I will certainly be returning to this hotel, as its location is almost ideal--away from most of the noise of the city centre, yet within easy walking distance of the transport hub Neumarkt and Schildergasse, the main shopping street. Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks Don’t bother leaving tips out for room service--they won’t be collected. In the hotel information, the text says that all service charges are included. This was a bit of a surprise to me.
