Both the room rate and the restaurant and bar prices are too high for what you get. Occasional Internet offers might be more reasonable. Location is excellent of course, very near the cathedral and the Hauptbahnhof.

This is a very nice hotel. Exceptional location and cleanliness. The rooms are clean, quiet and nicely decorated. It is everything I expected and I was pleased with this choice. I would recommend this hotel highly.

Right in the thick of things If you like art, go to the museum ludwig (almost next door) -there's great pop art collection including loads of warhol and leichtenstein, as well as the odd bit of picasso and dali.

For our family of four, I wanted a hotel close to everything- this one is across the street from both the Germanisches-Roman and the Ludwig museums, 2 min from the Dom and pedestrian zones and 2 minutes from the river promenades. Very friendly staff and comfortable rooms made this an excellent location. I would definitely stay here again. For train travel, it is within about 200m of the main station, but still quiet. There is an archeological dig/roadwork in progress in front of the hotel, but it presented no problems. The views of the Dom from the rooms are wonderful and even my picky eater loved the breakfast buffet. Bravo!

Don’t take a room where you can hear the trains. Very nice hotel, but the breakfast should be included - 35dollars is terrible even if the buffet has a good selection. 10 dollars for a glass of white wine is also too much in a wine country.

Good value If you are certain you won't need to cancel, book using the non-refundable rate.

We were very lucky to have stayed at the Mondial Am Dom Sofitel - it has the BEST location in all of Cologne (Koln)! You can see the Dom Cathedral (the massive gothic church which is the landmark of Cologne) can be seen from 1/2 the rooms in this 4 story hotel. Underground/covered garage parking for our rented Mercedes. The staff, especially the Chief Concierge Issath Handoon, were really helpful in terms of arranging our tourism needs and restaurant suggestions. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place and would definitely stay here again if we are back in Cologne.

Staff needs 101 in customer service Right in front of this hotel is MAJOR construction so it took some time to figure it out. There also wasn't free parking available as told by contacted Sofitel main number. But I room was nice, clean and air conditioned. The staff, however, were nasty people who would rather die than put a smile on their face. They didn't even know the phone number to the main Sofitel office. So if you can look past the construction, the expensive parking and unfriendly staff then this may be your choice. I, however, won't pick it again.
