This hotel is a great value if you can sleep through a lot of traffic and street noise (I had to have ear plugs in and a cover over my eyes to sleep). The location is great, walking distrance to everything we wanted to do in Cologne, just one block from the visitors center and very close to the train station. Our room was above a Chinese Restaurant (which we couldn't hear or anything) but the restaurant sign was outside our hotel window (our room glowed from the sign until it shut off between 10:30 and 11pm). It's not the kind of hotel you can just ask for another room at, from what I understand all the rooms have a disadvantage of some sort (small, smells, etc). If you stay here you won't want to hang out in your room much more than just trying to sleep. We opted out of paying for breakfast at the hotel. Again, not bad if you don't need complete silence to sleep. Next time we find ourselves in Cologne we will probably find a quiet hotel along the river that is still in walking distance from the cathederal.

Excellent location, very close to the train station, cathedral and shopping district, however hotel is a bit worn. Rooms are being refurbished and are average standard but small. hotel corridors are very worn and need to walk past the hotel kitchen to get to stairwell for most rooms. Breakfast decidely average - don't bother unless it is included for free. If you don't mind small rooms, below average decor and can get it for a good price then I recommend this hotel

Great location Friendly staff, fantastic location, inexpensive. Room was small but clean and comfortable. Had to walk through back of a Chinese restaurant to get to it but not a problem (and handy if you're hungry!)

Excellent location, very friendly staff and tidy room. Nothing magnificent about it, but once your expectations aren't too high you'll do worse than stay here.

My room was on the third floor without a lift, the staircase clearly needs redecoration. I passed a Chinese restaurant kitchen to get to a room, rather smelly.

Great location Bimmelbahn, a rubber-wheeled "train," took passengers for an inexpensive 20-minute-ride to the Cologne Zoo, from the nearby Cologne "Dom" (Cathedral). The large, well-landscaped Zoo was a delightful addition to our trip, with lots of baby animals and a nice aquarium. The large Museum Ludwig and Roman-Germanistic Museum, which are next to the Cologne "Dom, were well worth the visit. English brochures/translations/audio guides available for most of the Cologne attractions.

Great for the price Low price attracted me, good location (1 block from main train station and cathedral). Room was spacious and clean, featured a TV and an electronic safe, clean (but small) bathroom. Hotel overall is fairly small. Breakfast provided was good and plentiful as well.
