This hotel is ideal for a thin person on a strict budget. If you weigh more than 200lbs, you might want to find another hotel.

The rooms are small. A double is actually two twin beds pushed together. If you cannot speak French, you are limited to two English TV stations, one of which is a sports Channel. It doesn't get very hot in Paris, but while I was there it was over 90 degrees. This hotel does not have A/C or fans. When I asked for one the person told me to take a shower and open a window. (He wasn't rude when he said that). No ice machines and no bar in the hotel to ask for ice. The linen was old and not the most fresh of the pile. ON the good side they do have rooms with balconies. The hotel is within walking distance of major attractions, if you are in good to average shape. If you are not, the walk may be too much. It is close to Gare St. Lazare, at 9 Rue de Constantinople. My date there 7/14/2003. I did get a room with it's own bathroom.

Overall hotel stay was good and comfortable. Location is excellent as central to everything. Room is clean and good size for 3 star. However lift is small and badly located for service.

If you don't plan to spend much time in your room, the Timhotel Opera Madeleine is a great place to stay. It's centrally located close to attractions and many fine (and not so fine) restaurants including a Japanese restaurant where the Asian staff does not speak any languages except French and English. (My husband tried speaking in their "native" language only to find out that the staff spoke nor understood Japanese, Korean, Mandarin or Cantonese.) However, if you want a romantic week in Paris for two, with lots of time in the bath and between the sheets, this is definitely not for you.

Budget option in noisy central part of town handy for shopping. Typical railway-station B&Bpartan and bare. Brightly painted metal stairway (30 steps) to run-of-the-mill 1st-floor reception. Functional breakfast room.

- The shower area was so small that you could hardly move at all and the water outlet was choked . As such the shower area used to get flooded up. Never seen such small shower area before .

+ location - our room was very small, but I noticed many rooms were a lot bigger than ours, maybe the price decides the size of the room, overweight people woud not be abe to get in and out of the shower in the room we stayed in.
