I cannot recommend Nord Est. We were a family of 4. The hotel is not in a good area of Paris (near Gare Nord), and was very difficult to find. The is no air conditioning and the beds were very small and uncomfortable. The staff spoke English, but were not particularly accommodating. The breakfast was free, but of very low quality (coffee, juice, breads). The room was very small and not well kept. Do not stay here, unless you have very low expectations.

Room 17 (a quadruple) was old and in need of renovation but very quiet for sleeping. The staff was friendly, the breakfast excellent and the hotel is in a good location. I would recommend this hotel.

My sister & I stayed here for a week. Price for room was commensurate with the size of the room. No lift available - bathroom in room. Overall a great deal for the price. Quick walk from the metro stations-we felt safe in the neighborhood too.

This hotel is one of the worst I've ever been. The room's not clean, the beds are very small and unconfortable. The wall is thin, I can hear very clearly the noise of the neighbours. To avoid!

I enjoyed my stay at Norde Est. It was a small hotel located just away from the main traffic area and very near to Gare du Nord and Gare du l'Est, which was very convenient. The room was small, but clean and comfortable (we had a twin room) - and the pictures were acurate. The bathroom towels were replaced daily and the beds made. The only minor complaint I'd have was the noise level. It is a side street, but a lot of mopeds/cars/people use it and it was pretty noisy at all hours. For the price, this hotel was excellent - the staff were welcoming and accomodating. I'd stay here again!

This was the first hotel we stayed at of a toal of 4 on our honeymoon. We arrived here tired and travel weary but it was easy to find and within about a 5 minute walk (with our giant backpacks!) of Gare du Nord train station and metro stop. There were many restaurants and bakeries in the area as well as a couple of currency exchange places (watch the commission fees!) and a La Poste office. The front desk staff were friendly and spoke english. The breakfast was yummy but we didn't realize that it was not included in the price (our mistake) and for 5 euros each, we could have eaten the same thing for much less at a bakery of some sort down the street. The room was clean and although it was a bit shabby in the decorations, it was cozy. The bathroom again, while not terribly well decorated was clean and bright. We wanted something inexpensive and convenient where we could sleep and leave our stuff while touring around and this hotel provided that.

3rd floor room with no elevator?!?! The night clerk was more helpful than the day clerk, even with personal computer usage to check e-mail.
