Would have been great if only.... The hotel was quite pleasant when we entered. It was obvious that the entrance was renovated. The rooms however need a lot of work regarding the deco and amenities offered. The major problem we have experienced that disappointed us with the hotel was that when the elevator broke down it took 4 days to repair. As we were on the 4th floor, that was quite difficult to handle especially after a whole day walking about in a trade fair. The assistance of the staff was on offer, yet when requested in was tardy and not at all done with pleasure, rather as an unwelcomed obligation. We will probably stay in this hotel again, its proximity to our places of interest - either for work or pleasure - are a plus. We just hope that the rooms will improve as well as the manners of the people working in the frond desk. Traveler's tip on shopping Marais - most shops are very interesting and their products uncommon!

Not a four star hotel Hotel lobby was renovated - great plastic furniture. Rooms not renovated and need a lot of work. Reserved a king bed - a standard bed was given after being promised it was a king. Reserved non-smoking room. First room offered had strong smoke smell. Second room offered after waiting in lobby for 2 hours - the Bell Hop walked in and smelled the room and said - it should be ok - it doesn't smell like smoke - true story, room came with ashtray. Still only a standard bed - too tired to back to reception desk. One Icemaker on premises for all of the hotel - it didn't work - requested two times that it be serviced. When we checked-out, it still was not working. Went to the Bar to request ice - they could only give one small glass of ice - told it was for paying customers. Air Conditioner - floor unit - stick exhaust hose out window. Took two days to get a light bulb replaced. Shower leaked water onto floor as curtain was not waterproof - after taking shower - all towels had to be put on floor. Hotel is a two star, at best. Neighborhood is run-down. Don't get fooled by pictures as I was. Don't expect any level of service here. Internet - wi-fi or ethernet is not included. I have never written an unfavorable review on a hotel, but it is necessary here.

We stayed here in September, 2001, and had a room with a kitchenette. We loved the courtyard and the breakfast was very good. When you first arrive you don't realize how nice it is, because all you see is the door at the front, but then once you leave the lobby, the courtyard goes way back and there are four main buildings. The Metro is very close by, and we found a great little market on our same street. We were very happy with the service and friendliness and would stay here again!

A comfortable hotel in the quiet and historic Marais district and 5 minutes walk from the Place des Vosges which is one of the most beautiful squares in the world. The staff were courteous and helpful and the overall value excellent. My wife and I thoroughly enloyed our stay.

We stayed for 4 nights, and had reserved a quiet, non-smoking "executive" room. The first room had ashtrays and a connecting door with lots of noise - we were woken a 2am when the neighbours came back, and we heard every toilet detail. The a/c was a portable unit jammed between window & bed and could not be used at night because of its noise. Room was stuffy & small - only room for one bedside table. There was no way of making coffee until we requested a kettle. We changed to a better, larger room also with a noisy portable a/c with temperature control knob missing. Two wall lights were inoperable, TV remote missing, two cups with only one saucer. Coffee and sugar were not renewed. During the night there was an incredible amount of noise from the "garden" (actually a patio). The hotel was perhaps a 2*+ not 4* and definitely not worth $400 per night. I wonder what a "standard" room would be like! BTW the restaurant was excellent!

+ Clean and tidy in good location close to metro - The room was small and did not reflect the price paid.No kettle or cups in the room on first day and no cups again on the second day.Hair dryer was not very effective.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff were excellent very friendly and spoke excellent english. The rooms were small and I feel that the photographs available on the internet site were somewhat misleading, However this did not detract from our stay

Fantastic Hotel Get to Varsilles when it opens! In Museums, use audio tours whenever possible Buy a 3 day or 5 day Metro ticket. Make sure you see the lower section of the Louvre. Go to the top of the Effiel Tower at sunset. At the Effiel Tower, walk up to level 2, and buy ticket to the top from the vending machine on level 2. Every store in Paris in having annual sales during the last week of June. Go to Bel Canto Restaurant for a great experience.
