Nice place to stay ... This is a quiet, well maintained hotel located a few blocks from Gare Montparnasse and 50 meters from Edgar Quinet Metro. The staff are friendly and helpful. Traveler's tip on dining La Coupole restaurant is less than one block away.

Small and Dark We stayed here in May ’08. The room was very small and dark. The "balcony" featured climbing out the window to some asto turf on the roof and a view of the neighbors room. There is a courtyard off the lobby available instead. The room had a small refridgerator which came in handy for stashing cheese. The bathroom is OK- had a towel dryer which worked well for drying wet socks. The location is the best part of this hotel- 2 blocks from Gare Montmartesse which has a direct train to Versaille. From the metro, one can ride to Gare Nord and transfer to the RER to DeGaulle airport for only one metro ticket. The Eiffel tower and Louvre are within walking distance. There are many cafes close for dining. Be sure to sit at the sidewalk cafes down the street and enjoy an au lait or glass of wine. Don’t eat at the crepery across the street which is supposedly highly rated- they gave us dried out, ruined crepes maybe because they thought dumb Americans wouldn’t know the difference. On weekend afternoons there is an open marketplace one/half block away with amazing breads, cheeses and other food. It changes into an art market other days with affordable art by local artists. Stroll up Montmartesse Blvd to Invalides Blvd to Napolean’s tomb. There are numerous hotels in this area- I might try another one next time. Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks Buy a carnet of tickets and ride the Metro- very easy to get around Paris. Also be sure to check when the museums are open. Check out the new Holocaust museum- it is very good.
