Hotel Square
3 Rue De Boulainvilliers - 75016 Paris
Sleek, uncluttered chic in Paris 16th arrondissement, Hotel Square is a modern, boutique hotel that combines innovative design with an excellent restaurant and bar, an art gallery and a lush red reading room, just minutes from the Eiffel Tower on the right bank of the Seine. The geometric grey granite building with mirror windows is striking. Inside, the bright lobby atrium has a vast gallery wall that runs the height of the building, while an art gallery on the first floor displays works by contemporary artists. Rooms are modern and elegant with curved walls decorated in warm shades of grey, brown or tile-red. Relax in the cool, trendy blue bar and luxuriate on a comfy leather sofa with a glass of champagne. Afterwards, dine at Zebra Square restaurant in the elegant dining room where haute-cuisine is served with a fittingly modern twist. Hotel Square is a Small Luxury Hotels of the World property.

Friendly, helpful staff. Very nice to be in a hotel with an active restaurant. Also nice to stay in a modern space. Liked the heated floor in the bathroom. Appreciated the black out curtains. Most comfortable bed I've ever had in a Paris hotel. These negative comments are VERY picky but they did impact my stay somewhat. The hotel room and even the reading room lack sufficient light for someone as near sighted as me. (I should have asked for an extra lamp - but honestly the room was cave like with respect to lighting.) The hotel also has some seriously non-Green practices - leaving all the, insufficient, lights on in the room after cleaning and the television as well. Changing towels that had not been left on the floor wastes water/electricity, etc. (I've come to expect environmentally aware and chic to be synonymous at this juncture.) I also wondered why the maid didn't report to maintenance that my toilette paper holder was broken, every day she put a little finial back on that would not stay on the moment the holder was used. (Again, I should have said something, but it became amusing to see how complete the lack of an information feedback loop was within the hotel.) Finally, a bit less soap and some body lotion would have been a welcome toiletry.
