The people were nice. The location was good. And the room was clean. But... ...It was WAY overpriced. The bathroom didn't have a shower or a tub or a door (actually, it was a "saloon-like" swinging door). The location is good if you are young and don't mind walking...but if you have kids, or have trouble walking too much- it is quite a haul to the nearest metro. Even with the high price of hotels in Paris and the relatively smaller European hotels (when compared to the ones in the U.S.)..there has to be better deals than the Hotel Malar! I hate to be mean given the kindness of the employees...but I just can't justify ever going back to this hotel again.

This small hotel is very close to the Eiffel tower and all other attractions has some wonderful shops and cafe / bars within 50M of the front door. They will go out of their way to help and assist in any way they can HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

The location of the Hotel Malar is hard to beat if, like us, you always seem to end up around the Eiffel Tower well after the metro stops running. The hotel is midway between the Eiffel Tower, and the Invalides and a few blocks from the Seine. In other words, the hotel is within easy walking distance to much of must-see Paris. There are numerous restaurants (including the amazing Au Bon Accueil) and bakeries in the area and within easy walking distance. Unfortunately, the area around the Eiffel Tower does not have many metro stations, but there is a nearby RER line that connects to various metro lines (and is essentially part of the metro system). The staff was very friendly, but don_t expect a full service hotel. The room was clean and the bathroom was spotless. The housekeeping service was very good. However, the furnishings, drapes, carpet, mattress, etc. were well worn and could use replacing. The size of the room was actually decent for Paris. We had plenty of room to walk around the bed and there was separate area to stash our clothes and bags. The size of the bathroom and tub were also large for Paris. There was actually a mounted shower so that you could stand while bathing, but like many other hotels at which I have stayed in Paris, they have yet to discover the shower rod and curtain. In contrast to the furnishing in the room, the fixtures in the bathroom looked relatively new. Our room was very quite as it faced into a courtyard and had no other windows. The courtyard was not much to look at, but it helped to make this one of the most quite rooms I have had in Paris. The street outside the hotel did not seem to have any traffic, especially at night. I thought that the Hotel Malar was a good value for Paris and I would definitely stay there again. However, if you place a high value on dTcor, you may want to look elsewhere.

Not as described. The hotel was described as having rooms surrounding a "pretty courtyard." This so-called "courtyard" amounted to little more than a shaft that worked to accentuate all sounds. The night deskman had to be told 3 times to turn down the volume on the tv he was not watching and to speak in a lower tone of voice on the phone --at 3 in the morning. The shower in the bath had no curtain --so that made the entire bathroom wet.

Good value for the price Both room and bath were VERY tiny but the bed was comfortable, everything worked and it was on a quiet street. There was a nice patio where we ate a few meals that we brought in. The staff was always helpful and friendly. The hotel is within walking distance of the Eiffel Tower, lots of food places, the Metro and the Seine. We would recommend it to anyone looking for value over luxury.

Clean but very small It’s the only hotel I’ve stayed in in Paris, so I’ve nothing to compare. That said, Malar is in a good location and clean, but very, very small. Smallest shower I’ve ever been in. Bed was hard as a rock. The neighborhood is quiet, and the other guests mostly so, though the walls are a bit thin. Traveler's tip on local attractions Within easy walking distance of the Eiffel Tower and Les Invalides. Nearest Metro station is at Les Invalides.
