The good with the bad Don't use the hotel touted tours. The Metro and trains are easy, convenient and far less expensive.

Very nice. Room was quite small but very clean and a large bathroom. TV reception was very poor with very limited choice. No coffee making facilities in the room which was a shame. Lovely area of Paris with boutiques and boulangeries galore!

The good with the bad The best things about the hotel are the front desk staff and the location. Both were excellent. However, the first day that we arrived initially the room wasn’t ready and then we were told that the we could not have that room that night because the air conditioning was broken. That we would, instead, be put up in a nearby "lesser" hotel. We had no option but to accept. For our trouble, we were given free breakfast for the duration of the stay and a "superior" room (which we had already paid for). Upon our finally checking in to the Hotel Alexander, we found the beds to be rock hard. I expressed my dissatisfaction to the front desk nearly every day but all they did was fluff up the 2 inch mattress topper that sat on a rock hard mattress. Each morning it felt like I had been rolled down a flight of stairs in my sleep. If I had not paid for the hotel in advance and if it were not my daughter’s first trip to Europe I would not have stayed there. The air conditioning never made the room cool - it was almost always cooler outside than in. TV reception was poor with some channels coming in and out of clarity. By the way, the beds were softer, the ac stronger and the tv reception much better at the "lesser" hotel. Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay Don’t use the hotel touted tours. The Metro and trains are easy, convenient and far less expensive.

Great hotel Great Location the nearby Rue des Belle feuilles has a great baker / pattisiere with really good take away "picnic" lunches. Great way to cut down costs

Nice, well-located hotel Good hotel in great location in the 16th. Near metro. Room was fine, nothing spectacular. Dim, with poor lighting (asked for 2nd bedside lamp, which was provided on 3rd request). Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks Decline the outrageous hotel breakfast (always!) and walk to a cafe at the Victor Hugo circle for a croissant and cafe creme.

Good location but! Good location, clean rooms, friendly staff but: The room was very small and for the first 24h we didn't had air-condition...following days air-condition was working only during the day time and they reduce at the night time!

The service at the front desk was excellent. They spoke perfect English. The staff were friendly, spoke English, and willing to give directions. The hotel was very meticulously maintained. Ideally located to the main sites in Paris. Our main complaint was that the bed mattress was very hard and we had difficulty sleeping on it. Traveler's tip on local attractions You can see the main Parisian sites in one to two days for a reasonably fee that covers both days, by taking one of the Tour Buses that let stop at the site and continue the tour. They also offer Seine River tours for very reasonable fees.
